As expected the “4TB SSD” I received from an @HelpAliExpress store failed within 24hrs. After disassembly and research the internal components are commonly used in low quality, low capacity drives and are also used frequently in counterfeit parts. The @Lenovo branding and 4TB capacity claim are obvious lies. It’s no secret that Ali Express is packed with scammers and counterfeiters. Reviews and store credibility rating are almost always obviously canned, generic responses that are so vague you wouldn’t know if the review was about a diaper changing table or the International Space Station. Consumers are swindled out of hundreds of millions of dollars(or equivalent local currency) every year and it would be refreshing if a corporation that does upwards of $20 billion in revenue annually actually took meaningful action against this stuff. I have no doubt they’ll respond and say they work hard to stop and prevent this kind of activity but the fact is corporations only do enough to give the impression they care. Within the past few months I have made numerous purchases to post about my experiences. I’ve had a few successful transactions and several that were canceled a month or two later, another where the seller contacted me outside of Ali Express’ app telling me I needed to make a $150, third party payment to cover tariffs and shipping(obviously didn’t do) and now counterfeit parts. Ali Express has done well at refunding money so far but if this seller is still active a month from now it’ll show just how much they care. Strangely enough, I’ve had awesome experiences with the Alibaba side of @AlibabaGroup . Shipping takes forever but that’s to be expected.
