@TheNarrowGate37 Where does the article say it was an "innovative papal supremacy doctrine? The early Church demonstrated that certain teachings get clarified as time goes on and as issues/heresies arise. The primacy of St. Peter is present from the beginning as I have proven.

@Truth_Minded I don’t know what that has to do with what the Fathers taught? This article lays out the historical progression of you progressive innovative papal supremacy doctrine.

I think the only thing that Roman Catholics affirmatively believe as an article of Faith is that the Pope can teach Ex Cathedra and only Ex Cathedra must be believed, everything else is optional. And with that are only two apparent Ex Cathedra statements - both in recent history. It’s that and the Pope is a literal stand-in for Christ. If you “are with” the Pope, then you are basically saved.

@TheNarrowGate37 Do you have the sufficient conditions for an Ecumenical Council or not? You keep dancing.

You can’t have an ecumenical council without an emperor or the East. You just call your councils ecumenical and made up new standards for what defines an ecumenical council after the schism and based on fraudulent documents like the Donation of Constantine? And you admit don’t you Aquinas cited forgeries in his work right? And Aquinas called his work “straw” right?

@TheNarrowGate37 No, it's not. Explain the fallacy. Maybe that will get you to identify the sufficient conditions for Ecumenical Councils.

@TheNarrowGate37 Lol imagine denigrating law when Jesus is the Divine Lawgiver. Law is central to the entirety of the Bible. The Church is absolutely functioning as a legal system as well. So dumb. But that's to be expected by such an arbitrary system the orthodox attempt to prop up.

@TheNarrowGate37 Lol I thought you were touting the first 1000 years...yet your false Church isnt following the first 1000 years. Zero Ecumenical Councils. So no way to identify Ecumenical Councils? Fail.

@Truth_Minded Good that go nothing to do with anything except the created system— there’s no real obsession let along concern with this legalistic process.

@TheNarrowGate37 The article opens by saying that Christ’s words in Matthew 16:19 (explained via Isaiah 22, the “key of the house of David” as a symbol of plenary authority in the kingdom) were intended to confer supreme authority over His Church. It then refers the reader to Pope and Primacy

@TheNarrowGate37 You're also dishonest in suggesting the Catholic Encyclopedia supports your position rather than papal primacy. The same article (On the Power of the Keys) cites early examples where that verse is tied to petrine primacy (e.g., St. Gregory).

@TheNarrowGate37 "All five had to be involved with the decisions of ecumenical council" So no citation to the NECESSITY? Yes, there were 5 main sees. Proves nothing. You have to prove that 5 sees are always necessary to issue binding teaching. But you can't.

@TheNarrowGate37 Again, you cannot even define what constitutes an Ecumenical Council. I can. Let's prove it: give me the specific criteria for an Ecumenical Council.

@TheNarrowGate37 Rome has called many Ecumenical Councils in the last 1000 years. The "orthodox" are outside the Church and arent necessary for an Ecumenical Council. It's not the same as the early Church. The early Church recognized the primacy of Rome as even the case of Vigilius proved.

@TheNarrowGate37 the word "expounded" is a specific technical term for the interpretation of the law as practiced by the rabbinate.

@TheNarrowGate37 “Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul...” Acts 15:12 AFTER that James gave a disciplanry proposal to effect Peter's decision 15:14- James said: “Simeon has expounded how God first visited to take from the Gentiles a people for his name…”

@TheNarrowGate37 Finally, no, your system is the one that's horrible. Internal schisms. No way to convene, or even consistently identify, Ecumenical Councils. Weird no Ecumenical counil in 1000 years, right? Dominated for 500 years. AND fully embracing the Vatican 2 sect, praying together, etc.

@TheNarrowGate37 It is obvious (and getting more obvious by the day) that the current and recent claimants do not profess the true faith. It's a court system that cannot be reversed. So it's an extremely helpful tool and quite simple.

@TheNarrowGate37 So no citation for your Pentarchy claim??? Yes, the Keys represent a ruling jurisdiction and forgiveness of sins is within that category. Are you claiming Jesus didnt give the Apostles authority to teach as well?

@Truth_Minded Even the Catholic encyclopedia describes the merging between keys and binding and loosening in the Patristic era as having to do with remission of sins because that is the entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven.
