It is a decision theory framed question. Arguing against rational actors is like countering the prisoner’s dilemma with “prisoners are violent and wouldn’t coordinate”. You failed the Jane Street interview. The issue is red is the strictly dominant strategy; however, blue *feels* right to a certain moral type— it’s self-sacrificial over self-preservation, and the irrationality of the decision confirms itself as an act of faith. The argument still cannot hold though because if we break the thought experiment to include vague quandaries of modeling collective human irrationality to introduce blue not as the strictly game theoretical non-optimal strategy that would see 0% selection but the meaningful threshold that would introduce a moral imperative to risk oneself to save the irrational who elected into the death trap, you still assume enough collective rationality that will converge on this imperative to outweigh the irrationality of unnecessarily risking one’s life for no utility to the point it would bring the threshold close enough that you, who we presumably still concede is at least a rational agent, have a moral obligation to risk oneself to tip the weights over to majority. This is an extremely specific distribution. Thus for a blue buttoner you are either simultaneously rational enough to see the coordination logic and irrational enough to volunteer for unnecessary personal risk, can perfectly model confident rationality distributions of scale humanity or you have conceded your expressed choice is not any rational decision but a moral performance— that you *claim* you would risk your life ten thousand times over if there’s even the remotest chance it might save a single person, even in a self-created emergency (saving them from a danger they elected into), because you have an irrational collective faith that the same irrational, self-sacrificial faith will be shared by least 50% of humanity to make the same commitment in a self-fulfilling circle that can only manifest if you emote and shame loudly enough on twitter. And you would still fail to actually have selected a rationally optimized answer for the reasons above.
Sexual Mercenary (you know you did this)@realAngryViking

@CharlotteFang77 @Estharon @Trut_21 If we know everyone is a rational actor red is correct. Everyone in the world does not specify only rational actors. It meaningfully alters the scenario lmao.

Canada proposes a ban on Bitcoin ATMs - what does this actually mean? There is a lot of uncertainty still, and this is simply a proposal, with no new laws or regulations currently in place. It will likely be at least a year before any new regulations are in place. Currently, our Bitcoin ATM services remain operational and unaffected. In the event of a ban, I believe @bitcoinwell is uniquely insulated through our internal software and Cash Voucher functionality. Because we control this software, it is likely that we will be able to work within the new regulations (whenever they come, and however they look) However, I do not believe this is directly correlated to scams that can occur at Bitcoin ATMs (these are largely preventable, as we have proven with our software and processes since 2021), but this is rather a move towards forcing full KYC on all transactions, not just transactions over $1,000. Regardless, we know our financial privacy is eroding, this is not news. We know the regulators and governments are introducing stable coins and CBDCs which remove your financial privacy and rights. This is a step in that direction, and should not be surprising to anyone who has been paying attention. We have been anticipating and preparing for a day when the rules change, and throughout the last few years have built software and a moat of services to ensure Bitcoin Well will be able to adapt and continue to legally provide services that will preserve our customers financial rights and privacy - something I believe to be a God-given right. The mission to enable independence is intact 🚀

Canada is moving to ban crypto ATMs nationwide, calling them a key tool for scams and illicit money flows. The country has the highest crypto ATM density per capita in the world, with nearly 4,000 machines set to be impacted.

OK, a more complex variant, now that we have the numbers. Two buttons, blue and red. If ≥50% press red, all Blues die. if <50% press red, everyone lives, BUT all Reds and their progeny become Marked and unable to attack or defend from Blues (ie can be killed at will). Your pick?

Everyone on earth takes a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press? BE HONEST.

Let's unpack this. What we're seeing here isn't backtracking — not by a long shot. It's something far more powerful and, dare I say, meaningful: taking accountability. And that distinction? It truly, deeply matters. One is retreat; the other is genuine growth. Hope this helps!

I want to sincerely apologize for my actions at the Glitch Productions booth during the LVL UP Expo. Recently, I made a video at their booth where I said the word “NEGA.” I did this to reference a clip of one of their voice actors, and I made the joke specifically because the word sounds like a racial slur. Looking back, I realize how incredibly poor my judgment was. Attempting to make a joke out of a word that sounds like a slur is insensitive, offensive, and completely unacceptable. Regardless of the reference I was trying to make, the impact of my words was harmful. I want to deeply apologize to the staff at the Glitch Productions booth, the team behind The Amazing Digital Circus, and any attendees or community members who heard me or saw the video. You deserve a safe, welcoming environment at conventions, and I brought unnecessary discomfort and negativity into that space. I take full responsibility for this mistake. I have deleted the video and am taking this as a serious learning experience. I promise to be far more mindful and respectful of my words and the people around me moving forward. I am truly sorry. Tips for Posting • Post it where the original video was shared: If you posted the video on Twitter, TikTok, or YouTube, make sure the apology is posted on that same platform so the relevant audience sees it. • Keep it text-based or a simple, unmonetized video: If you record a video apology, avoid using monetization, background music, or jump cuts, as these can make an apology feel less sincere. • Do not get defensive in the comments: People may still be upset after you post this. The best course of action is to let people express their frustration without arguing back.

So. If you are in ANY emergency situation — let’s say you park in your driveway, & only as you begin taking your groceries from the car, you see movement in your home that is supposed to be empty. And a broken window. You cannot drive away to somewhere safer to get help. Your car refuses. You are at a traffic light. Suddenly someone is trying to get into your car (this has happened to me). You have a split second to accelerate & leave him in the dust. Your car shuts down power. The school calls. Your daughter has fainted. You cannot drive to the school to pick her up because your car notices your eyes are wide & you’re breathing fast. Your car now controls whether you live or die in an emergency situation. And those controls cannot be overridden.
Brian Allen@allenanalysis

Let me tell you about a law most Americans have never heard of. Eighteen months from now, every new car sold in the United States will come with technology that watches you drive. Infrared cameras tracking your eyes. Sensors measuring your pupil dilation. Software analyzing your head position. Software analyzing your behavior at the wheel. If the artificial intelligence in your car decides you are impaired, your car can refuse to start. Or limit your speed to 25 miles per hour. Or shut off entirely while you are driving. This is not a proposal. This is federal law. It applies to model year 2027. Here is the case for the law. 🧵

Tucker Carlson's subscriber database has no access controls. Newsmax was leaking subscriber names and zip codes to anyone who queried an email. Patrick Bet-David's app exposes 290,000 home addresses with zero authentication. Alex Jones' platform lets you pull any user's viewing history. i reported all four over a month ago. none of them responded. one of them had already been breached before i got there.
