Couple Allowed 1-Year-Old to Die Malnourished, Cold, and Stiff. A Michigan couple is locked up facing murder charges after their toddler was found dead with chunks of his crib mattress lodged in his throat and signs of severe neglect all over his body. It happened on August 12, 2024, at the family's home in Aurelius Township, just east of Eaton Rapids in Ingham County. According to court documents and Michigan State Police, 30-year-old Karloina Davis called 911 after discovering her 21-month-old son Vincent Jordache Davis face down and unresponsive in his crib. When the dispatcher pushed her to start CPR, she allegedly said the boy was "beyond help" and referred to him in the past tense. Police reports note that 29-year-old Pierson Davis, the dad, had phoned his own mother first to say the child wasn't breathing. Messages pulled from a computer at the home around that time mentioned holding the boy, pulling stuff from his mouth, and realizing there was no heartbeat or breathing with one line reportedly saying, "I think pieces of his bed." When troopers and medics arrived, the child was already cold and stiff. He was rushed to a hospital but pronounced dead there. An autopsy later determined the cause was caregiver neglect and the manner of death was homicide, Ingham County Prosecutor John J. Dewane said in a release. Vincent was severely malnourished with ribs visible, skin pulled tight over his face and skull, a large bruise on his groin the size of an orange, and a diaper caked with feces. Pieces of foam from his bed were found way back in his throat, according to investigators. The house itself was in rough shape, with rotting food scattered on the floor, dried blood on the walls, animal waste, and general clutter that made it unfit for kids, state police said. Officers also found the couple's other son, who was about 4 at the time, naked and wrapped in a blanket. He was so weak he couldn't stand or sit for long and started crying uncontrollably when his father picked him up. That boy was taken into protective custody, his parental rights to the parents were terminated, and he's since been adopted and is reportedly doing well. The investigation dragged on for more than a year and a half. Karloina and Pierson Davis were arrested Monday and arraigned Tuesday in 55th District Court. Each one now faces one count of open murder plus two counts of first-degree child abuse.

I lost a 16 year old niece who had clotting from the J and J vaccine. Discoloration in her leg was seen and they were about to leave for the ER when she was found collapsed on her bedroom floor.
