Over ten years ago, compulsive cyclist hater Nick Freeman was calling for cycle helmet law to be introduced. Predictably, he was unsuccessful and never will be. The question is, why are those who shout the loudest on this subject invariably non-cyclists?

My first cycle tour abroad was around Normandy, France in 1989.

I trusted the car to wait behind me, more fool me I guess. A 40mph speed limit, solid white central lines and I was riding above 10mph, a fairly narrow lane and oncoming traffic. This extremely close pass earned the driver an NIP.
