@fandompulse It seems rare Sanderson comments on things he doesn't like, since he's a successful professional and doesn't want to dog others, so for him to say this he must really really not have liked it. I'm sure off camera he has even more to say, but he's keeping it professional here.

@SmojiiTTV Myself, and by the number of players in Arc Raiders, I think we've left the grind behind. I want engaging gameplay, not busy work to unlock more busy work or to unlock a percentage of an advantage. The grind belongs in a day job, not in leisure activities played for fun

An actual grind. Everyone wants to make extraction shooters super casual and forget what makes them appealing to most people in the first place.

There will be NO character morphing based on morality in the new Fable. "That sort of character morphing feature, obviously a really central part of the original games. It's not in ours." I'm sure this is the next big controversy for fans, but honestly I'm fine with it.

@Gingerblast Situations like this are why I think I've leaned more into board games than TtRPGs. Everyone knows what they're getting into when we play a board game and we never have to adjust the rules or tone based on one person preference. People just show up, learn the rules, and play.

People are dunking on this but I feel for the GM. I wouldn't like being put in a position where a close friend asks for special treatment when I'm trying to run a fair game where the rules apply to everyone. Especially since my game has some competitive and pvp elements so adherence to a set of fair rules is actually pretty important. My solution: 1. Inform the player of resurrection options where appropriate 2. Allow players to invest themselves in the world at a level beyond their characters. I do this by handing my players control of the pantheon, but you could also give them factions, allow them to add a playable race to the world, etc. Let them leave a mark so that their character isn't their only point of investment. This is all assuming that the player in question is just new and insecure about their abilities and not trying to put the GM in a bad position or acting in bad faith, of course. If they aren't amicable to finding a solution, then I don't know why they are playing this game to begin with.

@ArcRaidersNow Its all the house keeping in my inventory that I hate. If Im trying to make something, but I dont have the material, but I have something that can be salvaged into the material, then just do it! All the back and forth and figuring out what salvage into what is beyond tedious

Arc Raiders design lead Virgil Watkins says Embark Studios is “super aware” of player frustration around having to manually build loadouts and has talked about adding custom loadout presets that would save time and clicks — though it’s not coming immediately and still needs prioritization after launch. Even Watkins admits he sometimes just picks the free loadout to jump straight into action instead of digging through menus. #ArcRaiders
