@WinnerDefault @blind_ne @madcap412 how well the genre side of things is handled kinda goes hand in hand with how well a game is received though. a lot of games can be open world, but not all open world games are great.

The problem is that Concord raised the bar for flops SO HIGH, that games that flop are perceived as "doing ok" because they're not as bad as Concord Marathon is an underperformer, weirdos try to defend it by arguing "its alive"...in reality, it's just an average pre-Concord flop

@Cummer4454341 @RealMarcFoxx I agree that general writing craft in video games is unfortunately low but I don't think he's a top 10% writer. His metaphors, thematic subtext are painfully obvious and almost always very surface level, not requiring much thought beyond what's plainly presented.

@WinnerDefault @RealMarcFoxx He makes great games. His writing quality could improve but theyre still better than 90% of game we have. Death stranding is one of the best games in regards to game mechanics and level design.

@MugenLord Same. It's one of the most basic JRPG's in existence but it holds a very special place in my cold gamer heart.

Loved the original and love the remake. You definitely need to give this game a try if you haven't already.

@DannyBo45117566 @blind_ne @madcap412 Definitely bombastic action but not absurdist insanity. if we really wanted to stretch this then we'd have to say Sleeping Dogs and RDR1/2 are the exact same too because they're 3rd person shooter/crime games. But that's just genre convention not their unique offering.

@DannyBo45117566 @blind_ne @madcap412 Only in that they were open world 3rd person shooters but you're right in tat they are very similar titles. The difference being the overall offer, GTA is about more serious crime and satire of crime, SR is insane gangwars and eventual presidency.

@WinnerDefault @blind_ne @madcap412 not really, gameplay wise, all of the games are pretty much the same, the only thing that really changed was that they went further into insanity in the sequels, but gameplay wise, it was always the same.

@DannyBo45117566 @blind_ne @madcap412 Also correct, mediocre isn't bad but I wouldn't call it good either. The absolute worst thing about Marathon is the art style and character/NPC designs, which is also it's most unique aspect.

@WinnerDefault @blind_ne @madcap412 some people don't mind games that are similar though, if something being similar was automatically a bad thing, saints row would not have had over 5 separate games in the series because those are all GTA clones. and mediocrity is not bad, in fact i prefer mediocre than bad

@cjroper1973 @AkiTahvanainen @blind_ne @madcap412 You're right, if they fix it for s2 they might have a chance of getting new players to stick around but that's not the current state of the game and it's one of the reasons it's losing players. Personally, I think Bungie were banking on their name more than making something good.

Calling it word slop just shows that you're language skills are stunted. You're still inaccurate and unironic.

I can concede the argument that it's a sequel and it's story follows on from the old games but that's not a counter to the game offering being different from what other games provide.
