In response to feedback from end users, we felt it was necessary to make this clarification. Zecmap is being developed completely independently, without receiving funding from any individual or organization. Regarding Flexa integration, we are simply taking a different approach. The vision behind Zecmap is to create a long-term and sustainable structure where local merchants and businesses can join the map entirely through their own initiative. This approach prioritizes organic adoption rather than short-term growth. We do not hold any negative stance toward Flexa integrations. On the contrary, Flexa is a strong system that has successfully processed many transactions and includes a large number of businesses within its infrastructure. However, our current priority is different. While different integration models may be considered in the future, at this early stage we plan to onboard local businesses manually. The main reason for this is that we want to build an organic ecosystem made up of businesses that genuinely accept Zcash and actively connect with the community. We are not building a “growth speed” model, but rather a “progress model.” We are not trying to compete with anyone or diminish existing solutions. On the contrary, we value all current efforts. Our goal is to support the Zcash ecosystem and local merchant adoption in the most effective and sustainable way possible.

Respectfully, the framing on Flexa isn’t quite right. Flexa has been supporting ZEC at major retailers since before 2020 and has been a huge supporter of the Zcash community throughout. The merchant not knowing which asset the customer spent is a feature, not a gap. Flexa is a direct payments processor: wallet to POS, collateralized, final at authorization. The customer spends shielded ZEC, Flexa handles the rest, and the merchant settles in fiat or any supported digital asset. ZODL ships Flexa Components natively, so Zcash holders can already spend shielded ZEC at Chipotle, Sheetz, GameStop, Regal, Bealls, and more, today, no merchant permission required. Add the 10,000 Flexa merchants and watch your map explode overnight." We hear this a lot. We're not going to do it. Here's why. Flexa-enabled stores accept Bitcoin and settle in fiat. Most don't even know they're accepting Zcash. Adding them would inflate our numbers and lie to you — you'd walk in, say "Zcash?", and get a blank stare. ZecMap is different. Every pin here is a business that chose Zcash. Verified. Real. No filler. We'd rather have 50 real merchants than 10,000 fake ones. @AMPitUpppp @FlexaHQ @zodl_app I think we didn’t express it clearly. Our goal is to verify that businesses are truly accepting Zcash and to make this visible. That’s why we are doing manual mapping and allowing businesses to add themselves.

@ZecMap This is inaccurate about @FlexaHQ . In @zodl_app u can pay at merchants with zcash and the Merchant chooses what they want it settled in. It could be Fiat or Zcash, Bitcoin etc anything really. Flexa isn’t just Bitcoin payments $amp
