I think people need to stop the "them vs us" finger pointing and acknowledge it's a combination. If you're gonna talk about fraud, immigration, inequality and so on, then talk about it all and lay it all at the feet where it belongs. Farage is a piper playing to the tune of his paymasters. But, I don't see substance in a lot of the green policies now either.

Farage has no plan to end rip-off Britain. And those without good ideas often double down on scapegoats... At @TheGreenParty we know it's inequality not immigration making life tough That’s why we’re offering hope & a plan: cut bills, tax billionaires, rebuild public services
Zoe Gardner@ZoeJardiniere

Farage has spiralled & self-radicalised, which is why Reform’s polling lower & lower. Mass-stripping of recognised, settled refugees of protection & legal status is NOT something normal British people want. These Trump-style evil & destructive politics are not wanted here.

So let's work this through using Liverpool FC as an example. In 2024/25 LFC reported £703m of revenue and a wage bill of £440m. LFC reported a £8m post tax profit once other costs had been accounted for. That wage bill would have generated around £240m for HMRC via income tax and NIC payments alone. LFC employed 1,100 full time staff and around 3,000 part time for match days etc. In the (highly unlikely event) that LFC's revenues remained as is, then the 10:1 cap would lower LFC's wage bill to about £45m [calculated by placing all playing and coaching staff on £200k per annum]. Based on last years revenue LFC's owners would see their profits rise from £8m to £403m. The tax take for HMRC would fall from c.£240m around £125m (income tax+NIC+corporation tax). Now in reality revenues would not stay as is. A maximum wage of say £200k per annum is mid Championship, top of League 1 level. So if that is the best quality of player EPL clubs could hire then revenues would fall accordingly. TV companies would presumably pay only Championship levels to show matches, and UEFA revenues would largely dry up as English clubs would be quickly eliminated - see Scotland. So for LFC, TV revenues would fall from c.£260m to say £20m. Commercial revenue would follow, say down from over £323m to £30m and UEFA revenue would at best be £30m. Last year LFC achieved £115m of match day revenue. Given the collapse of other revenue sources they would likely try and keep general admission prices as high as possible, but would have to lower hospitality prices drastically - so let's say match day = £50m [btw this would lead to a reduction in VAT payments of £13m]. So total revenue would now be less than £100m (stripping out UEFA revenue as that is uncertain) down from £700m. This is the sort or revenue earned by Celtic and Rangers in Scotland. LFC would no longer be able to employ 1,100 full time staff. Clubs in the Championship typically employ around 200-300 staff at most. Nor would they be able to afford to spend £20m per annum on its academy or subsidise its Women's team with £10m per annum. So the EPL would be reduced in quality and standing to that of the SPL. Across the 20 clubs probably 10,000 full time jobs would be cut, academies would be scaled back and support for Women's football drastically reduced. HMRC's tax take across the division would be down by at least £2bn to £2.5bn

Predictable, but still depressing... 🙄 New @YouGov poll suggests 65% of Britons would support the Green Party's call for a maximum pay ratio of 10:1 between the top and lowest-paid person in each company 👇 (1/2)

Zack Polanski might just have unlocked the one policy that unites all 5 party's voters. And yet the Greens are the only party that can actually offer it. No wonder Labour, Tory and Reform voters were so desperate to get him to reverse it. @TheGreenParty x.com/YouGov/status/…

@PensionsMonkey I'd guess that more than 65% are at best only semi-literate in language and comprehension, they do what they're told by social media and the news... Is it a wonder why in economics terms so many don't understand, or apply logic to poorly thoughts through policy?

Calling people idiots for pointing out 1 view while only pointing to the other as the absolute, is also idiocy! Truth is, when a business is faced with the option, they'll "pay" the top less, and then find creative ways to make their CEO's overall package better without impacting the lower earners at all, it's how people operate, always have and always will.

My point is about some of the idiotic responses. The specific policy isn't one I'd particularly advocate because a. too many loopholes, and b. wealth inequality is far more pressing than income inequality. I can disagree with the policy and also with certain criticisms of it.

Can these people not understand a single fucking thing? The policy *does not* limit how much a CEO can be paid. It limits how little the lowest earners can be paid, in relation to the CEO.
Lin Mei@linmeitalks

If the max you can earn in the UK as a CEO is around £200k annually because of the Green Party policy - there will be minimal tax collected, so how will the Greens fund their expensive policies??? Whoever is voting Greens needs their head testing. There will be no money for anything!

The rapidly changing demographics of our country mean that the Muslim population of our country is set to grow and grow and grow - a process that will only get faster. This is the honest truth no other politician will dare to mention. Demands for political Islam will spread alongside that. We’re already seeing that process accelerate. The British people will be further expected to have our way of life changed, permanently, to tolerate those who would not show us the same respect. I don’t want that. Restore Britain does not want that. We have been quite clear that a Restore Britain Government would be far more muscular in our approach to Islam. This is a Christian country. Under a Restore Britain Government, it would stay that way. Halal slaughter would be banned, along with cousin marriage and the wearing of the burqa/niqab. Sharia courts outlawed, with any foreign nationals attempting to promote Islamism removed from our country. Mass dominating Islamic prayer in public spaces will not be tolerated. Islamic call to prayer blaring out across British towns will be banned. Unfettered immigration from Islamic countries will come to an end. Foreign nationals who cannot speak English, refuse to work, claim benefits, live in social housing, or hate Britain will also be deported. Under a Restore Britain Government, the British state would not bend over backwards to accommodate practices that would have been unwelcome in medieval England. The islamification of Britain will end. For making these demands, I have received numerous death threats. I want to be really clear - we will not be intimidated. Starmer panders to the Muslim vote, hoping the crocodile will eat him last. Farage has pathetically said if we ‘alienate’ Islam we ‘will lose’. The Tories had their chance, they accelerated the process. It’s all too weak, it’s all too late. And the hour is late. Because if we continue on our current trajectory, the size of the Muslim population will reach a point where they will no longer be asking. Just look at Lebanon. I will be hounded for stating these facts. And they are all facts. My response? Go to Tower Hamlets. Bradford. Rochdale. Leicester. Blackburn. Birmingham. Walk around. You could be living in an Islamic country. It’s not even multiculturalism. It’s one culture. Islam. And British people in those areas are expected to sit back and accept it, or leave. Colonisation is the right word. That is not an acceptable state of affairs. What has happened in those towns will happen elsewhere. It is simply a matter of time. We can all already see it developing. It is demographic reality. I’m 68. It will not impact me. I will be long gone. But my one objective with Restore Britain is to leave the country in a better state than the one my generation was gifted. I want my grandchildren, and your grandchildren, to grow up in a cohesive, prosperous and confident Christian country which treats women with respect. That will require decent British men and women to stand up for our way of life in a far more assertive manner than has so far happened. I am absolutely determined to offer the British people a democratic route out. There is finally a serious political party with the courage to do what needs to be done. Restore Britain. Join us.

I see the Times have published a desperate hit piece attacking Restore Britain. They do though helpfully outline some of our 'key policies', as they call them. To quote their summary... 'mass deportations by removing the entire illegal migration population of the UK' 'abolish the asylum system' 'restore a “pro-British” education system' 'end political Islam' Sounds bloody good to me. They also seem to get annoyed that we're stating the NHS should hire qualified British medical professionals over foreign nationals. I stand by every single word. All in all, a good promotion of our policy platform. First the media ignored us, now they're attacking us. We must be making progress.

@RupertLowe10 If you're a British taxpayer, and can't afford to have a mobile or eat varied meals, or get certain places, you have to go without, but don't worry, you'll pay for these illegals to have all those things you can't afford yourself. That's what's wrong!

Reform are promising an inquiry into the actions of the Conservative Government on immigration. I’ve done my own small investigation on what Reform MPs Robert Jenrick and Suella Braverman were responsible for as ministers, on just one contract. Take a look, and see if you agree with how Reform MPs actually acted when they held power… The Bibby Stockholm. Remember that? Vast accommodation for illegals. £1,593,535,200 for 'Provision of Bridging Accommodation and Travel Services’ awarded to ‘Corporate Travel Management (North) Limited’. A Bradford based company according to the records… That’s a LOT of money. Let’s take a look at where all that money went, all taken from documents officially labelled as ‘sensitive’… Remember - this is all happened under Reform’s Braverman and Jenrick's watch. Braverman was the Home Secretary. Jenrick was the immigration minister. Braverman’s title was on the sodding contract! Dated 05/04/2023. How did they see fit to care for these illegal men who have broken into our country? The illegals must be provided with a ‘varied daily menu’. The menu ‘must’ be developed through working with a ‘cultural advisor’. Needless to say, Halal meat is obviously provided. I’d like to know how much these ‘cultural advisors’ are getting paid... ‘Three balanced nutritious meals’ must be provided. A late night snack ‘must’ be provided if the illegal arrives late and misses the evening meal. Brilliant. Wouldn’t want them going hungry, would we? Cleaning. A ‘cleaning programme’ must be delivered to the standards set by the ‘British Institute of Cleaning Science’. Routine cleaning must be provided, and their cabins are cleaned on a ‘twice weekly basis’. A ‘house-keeping laundry service’ is included, with a maximum '48-hour turn around’’ 'The Supplier shall change and launder all Service User bed sheets & towels on a weekly basis as a minimum.' Bed sheets changed every week for them. Not bad, is it? Information on the local area is provided - including amenities and facilities. Illegals are assisted to make contact with a local GP surgery and dentist - they are assisted to do this and they are helped to register with the GP. The illegals are to be taken and returned from medical appointments. A 24/7/365 staffed reception service is provided on site. That’s a must, of course… A ‘programme of organised recreational activities' are provided, seven days a week. Activities available ‘morning, afternoon, and evening each day’. This is all true, all in the documents… As ludicrous as it sounds. The contract demands that the illegals have their ‘spiritual needs’ met. What?! The illegals must be given ‘an opportunity to participate in meaningful activities, which reflect the age, gender, cultural, and ethnic needs of a diverse population’. Meaningful activities. Their words. This was all signed off by the Reform politicians. It is infuriating. Full Wi-Fi coverage is required, with a bank of mobile phones available ’24/7'. They are given ‘guidance and support’ on how to conduct ‘research’ online. Transport requests will be taken at short notice, all day every day. ’24/7’ again mentioned. The transport must be ‘punctual’. ‘Adequate transport links’ must be provided to assist the illegals into the local area - and booking of transport services must be delivered for those ‘who wish to travel beyond the local area’. So they're helping to ship them out into the rest of the country... This is insane. Is this really what Reform voters want to endorse? I judge people by what they do, not what they say. When Reform’s Robert Jenrick and Suella Braverman held power, what did they do? They laid the red carpet out for illegals - some of these men would have gone on to commit crime, sexually assault women, and who knows what else. It is horrific. They were the ministers. They were responsible. This is the tip of the iceberg on their track record - they allowed countless hordes of third world sex pests into our country. They are responsible. Restore Britain’s position is very clear. All illegals in the country would be securely detained in tented accommodation until they can be swiftly deported. No ‘recreational’ activities as the Reform MPs so kindly provided, no five star comfort, none of it. Two words. DETAIN. DEPORT. If you want the illegals out, there is only one party to back. Restore Britain.

So ‘Restore Britain’ far right clowns want to scrap public sector translation services. That policy is dangerous NONSENSE. Here are 5 examples why: 1️⃣ Our military would be unable to translate NATO intelligence when it isn’t in English. 2️⃣ A&E doctors would be guessing a tourist’s allergies eg if they were going into anaphylactic shock. 3️⃣ Criminals could walk free because key witnesses, such as visitors who see a major crime, couldn’t have their statements translated. 4️⃣ Intelligence services would be unable to carry out foreign language work. 5️⃣ Border Force would be severely weakened by an inability to conduct in-depth foreign language interviews. Impractical, dangerous discrimination.
Restore Britain@RestoreBritain_

Restore Britain will end all foreign language translation in the public sector, saving hundreds and hundreds of millions. If you live in our country, you speak our language.
