@miya_19c @SandyofCthulhu Apologies, but I have not taken these photographs and I don’t intent to hurt anybody’s feelings or invade their privacy.
I was only conveying the pace with which they are able to move with their attire. It was surprising to me.

@_prashanthn @SandyofCthulhu Maiko and geiko who are not working with tourists are out on the go to and from work, so they don't like having their way blocked and their photos taken. How would you feel if your private photos were taken without your permission even though you are not a performer?

When I was in Kyoto with my friend, I kept seeing "geishas" walking around. My friend (who lives in Japan) assured me they were not real geishas, but Chinese tourists dressed up for fun.
I asked him, "How can you tell?" He said, "Trust me. When you see a real geisha, you'll KNOW." Anyway went down a notorious geisha street - it was full of restaurants that featured geishas. You had to be a member to get in. And to be a member an existing member had to recommend you. So no way could I get into one of them. They had walls around the grounds so you couldn't even see in.
Anyway, while we were gawking at the cool geisha establishments, a long black limousine pulled up and a geisha got out of the back seat and quickly hobbled into one of the geisha places. I was maybe 10 feet away from her. And friend let me tell you I didn't need a guidebook to tell that she was the real deal. Completely white face-paint. Amazing hairdo with sticks thrust through. Layers upon layers of gorgeous colorful kimono cloth. THAT was the geisha. I kept staring at the place after she was long gone.
So that is my one story of how I saw a geisha. Sorry I was too stunned to pull out my camera and take a picture. Anyway my wife was there so ...

Witnessing an Oiran Dochu, a traditional procession of high-ranking courtesans from Japan's Edo period, with stunning kimonos and their unique Sotohachimonji walk, is truly mesmerizing! ✨🌸

The first time I visited Japan in 2018 was just after the Sakura season towards the end of April. I was hoping to glimpse a few cherry trees and I did so in Hamarikyu Goen. It was also the time I looked up the philosophy of Hanami and the Japanese interest in Cherry Blossoms via art. I came to know that this was a timeless tradition with the earliest artworks appearing as long back as the Edo Period by Kano Sanraku. The piece is titled Blossoming Cherry Trees.
This year I am in Japan, in the thick of the cherry blossom season, and I’m blessed to see them.

🇯🇵🌸The Japanese people love cherry blossoms very much.
This is not only because of their visual beauty, but also because of their fleeting nature — they reach full bloom about 7 to 10 days after the flowers first open, and then scatter within a short period of roughly 5 to 7 days.
The Japanese affection for cherry blossoms runs very deep. In fact, records of cherry blossoms date back more than 1,200 years. This is because many Japanese people used to write about the blooming and full bloom of cherry blossoms in their diaries.

🇺🇸🤝🇯🇵🌸 In 1912, approximately 3,000 cherry blossom trees gifted by Japan to Washington, D.C. are in full bloom.🥰👍

🛑To everyone bragging that "Iran is strong" and cheering the idea of closing the Strait of Hormuz by attacking oil tankers:
🛑Great plan! The regime wants to trigger a massive oil spill right in the Gulf—the very water their own coastal desalination plants depend on for fresh water.
🛑Because nothing says "smart strategy" like poisoning the source that keeps millions of Iranians from dying of thirst during one of the worst historic droughts in decades.—yet let's risk turning the Gulf into an oil-soaked disaster zone that could cripple their own water supply.
