Tokyo can be described as a metropolis made up of many small towns. My home is very convenient, with a private railway station, hospital, supermarket, convenience store, vending machines, and bakery all within walking distance. That's the charm of Tokyo.

@Tokyonobo We always try every single Japanese pastry we can find when in 🇯🇵, and so far everything has been absolutely delicious! (We’re from 🇦🇹, so when it comes to baked goods, we’re honestly quite spoiled.) we are returning to 🇯🇵 in a few weeks to try out more 😋

@LahDiDah8 Japanese bakeries generally maintain a high level of quality. Try asking your hotel or other staff for recommendations for nearby bakeries.

I also hope that as many people as possible who visit Japan from overseas will visit Japanese bakeries and enjoy their unique qualities.

@Tokyonobo Japanese bread bakeries tend to fly completely under the radar of visitors from abroad. Always recommend them to visiting friends and they're always blown away.

@Tokyonobo An-pan used to be my nickname in Tokyo. Hence I love the character. But to be honest, I would kill for a meronpan Natskukashiiii.

In Tokyo, you can find local bakeries rather easily. The photos show several classic Japanese breads. In the foreground is a curry bun, in the center are a chocolate bun, anpan (sweet bean paste bun), and a cream bun, and in the back are a yakisoba bun and a melon bun.

@Tokyonobo Kamakura is a great day trip location from Tokyo. I have been there many times. Something I recommend is hiking the various trails that connect to different temples such as the Daibatsu Trail that begins near the Great Buddha.

Kamakura City in Kanagawa Prefecture is less than an hour by train from Tokyo Sta.. It is a historical seaside town known for its ancient temples and shrines, the Great Buddha, and its beautiful coastline. It was once the political center of the samurai class in medieval Japan.

@Tokyonobo Those look delicious! I especially love how golden that curry bun is. Japanese bakeries are truly the best. Which one of these classic breads is your personal favorite to eat?

@Tokyonobo I just wish it wasn't so hard to find a jam filled donut. Red bean paste is nice but sometimes I just want a sugar bomb 😭

@tellmekafka I don't see the need to compare Japanese bread to bread from other countries. I'm simply introducing the unique breads of Japan.

@Tokyonobo To be honest, as a German who's used to high quality bakeries, I wouldn't talk about Japanese bakeries, because I don't want to say anything bad 😆

Kamakura is the place where Japan's first samurai government was established in 1192. Zen Buddhism was introduced around this time, so there are many Zen temples. The first photo was taken at Kencho-ji Temple, the third at Hase-dera Temple, and the last at Kaizo-ji Temple.
