@mitchellh Got a crazy idea... collapsable panels! Let me hide the information I no longer need... Better yet let me customise it!

Using GitHub as an example but all forges are similar so not singling them out here This page is mostly useless. It's the repo homepage, it should not be useless. * Red - Literally never use * Blue - Don't use it and duplicated * Orange - I browse w/ `t` (Go to file), not this Note this is for the default layout view for a repository that I create/maintain. The layout makes more sense for a visitor to the repository.

@mitchellh So is it just a scripting language similar to Bash? Built into nushell I'm guessing but available to install separately if wanted?

@aran384 I’m so shocked it took this long for someone to say something LOL. I like Nu, I think it’s a great scripting language, it fits really well with GitHub actions. I dunno!

AI eliminated the natural barrier to entry that let OSS projects trust by default. People told me to do something rather than just complain. So I did. Introducing Vouch: explicit trust management for open source. Trusted people vouch for others. github.com/mitchellh/vouch The idea is simple: Unvouched users can't contribute to your projects. Very bad users can be explicitly "denounced", effectively blocked. Users are vouched or denounced by contributors via GitHub issue or discussion comments or via the CLI. Integration into GitHub is as simple as adopting the published GitHub actions. Done. Additionally, the system itself is generic to forges and not tied to GitHub in any way. Who and how someone is vouched or denounced is up to the project. I'm not the value police for the world. Decide for yourself what works for your project and your community. All of the data is stored in a single flat text file in your own repository that can be easily parsed by standard POSIX tools or mainstream languages with zero dependencies. My hope is that eventually projects can form a web of trust so that projects with shared values can share their vouch lists with each other (automatically) so vouching or denouncing a person in one project has ripple effects through to other projects. The idea is based on the already successful system used by @badlogicgames in Pi. Thank you Mario. Ghostty will be integrating this imminently.

The craft of engineering is rapidly changing. At @tryramp, we built our own background coding agent to accelerate faster. We call it Inspect. It wrote 30% of merged frontend + backend PRs in the past week. It’s powered by @opencode, @modal and @CloudflareDev. It runs fully in the cloud, and starts in seconds, letting every builder work at the speed of thought, no setup required. Today, we’re open sourcing the full blueprint so anybody can build their own Inspect. Just give our spec to your current coding agent, and let it build your new favourite.

@VeriitasGames I believe I saw @grok or someone else reply to another tweet referencing some officer training that states you should never stand in front of a vehicle or between a vehicle and another. Always to the side. @grok can you find what I'm mentioning?

@RoguePOTUSStaff @grok what could this mean for the US and it's constitution if half of the congress is not going to up hold the law and hold the president accountable?

The fact that 47 Senators voted to abdicate the very existence of Congress is shameful. Any member of Congress who so hates the institution this way has no place being there in the first place, and should resign. And if they won't resign, vote them the Hell out.
Republicans against Trump@RpsAgainstTrump

🚨BREAKING: In a major blow to Donald Trump, the Senate voted 52–47 to advance a resolution that would bar the president from taking further military action in Venezuela without congressional approval. Republican Sens. Paul, Hawley, Murkowski, Collins, and Young supported the measure, along with all Democrats.

@ThePrimeagen Build the foundations first then use Claude Code. I found starting from scratch vibe coding results in hit and miss results whereas if you give the AI a starting point it does a whole lot better

day 1 vibe coding: i am not impressed, super unimpressed i think i am going to reroll this experience and build the foundation myself and then start asking for small changes to an established project as opposed to creating a project from scratch. claude is in fact not a diety

@Hesamation I'd cross off Java – its verbose boilerplate and enterprise rituals scream bureaucratic red tape, much like endless German paperwork. 📜

@mitchellh I think the way AI works also doesn't conform well with VCS that we have right now. You end up with lots of additional changes over time and AI I think needs to use VCS differently to the way humans do When AI works on a feature that should be tracked on a particular commit

A problem with VCS today in an agentic world is they only store the [mostly] successful history. We should be storing the thousands of branches that were failures; the false starts that didn't solve the problem. The negatives are important and we are just throwing it all away.

The macOS unobtrusive update feature is now shipped to tip releases (aka. OpenAI Demogate). Demo shows a real update! Beyond visuals, also mproved functionality, e.g. tip updates will now link to a GH compare view between your commit and the latest in lieu of release notes.

@joebell_ That looks very native on iOS. Is that what the interface looks like regardless of mobile os or is that using some framework to show native style interfaces based on device?

@GergelyOrosz But are they getting $200/mo of value or $1000/mo of value out of these LLMs?

We’ve gone so quickly from “not sure I want to pay $20/month for another AI coding tool when I already pay $20/mo for one” to “my $200/month subscription keeps running out of limits- help!!” Devs actively using LLMs for work are trending to pay easily $1,000+/month soon…
