Atheeq’s intelligence unit manufactured a report serious enough to eliminate the Police Board’s number one ranked candidate for Commissioner of Police. That operation required effort, coordination, and deliberate intent. The same unit could not perform a basic social media check on a cabinet minister nominee. Ali Shareef’s tweets calling Macron a “sick bastard” and attacking Modi were public. On his verified account. Dated. Archived. A five-minute search would have flagged them. In any functioning democracy, this is the first thing you check. The US requires every political appointee to undergo a baseline review of public records and social media posts before nomination. The UK’s diplomatic security vetting includes a full digital footprint review. Even honorary consul appointments in small countries now require social media screening as standard practice. France is the Maldives’ 8th largest tourism source market. India was until recently its largest. A cabinet minister who publicly insulted both countries’ heads of state is not a personnel mistake. It’s a diplomatic liability sitting at the cabinet table. Now consider the other appointment Atheeq’s unit cleared. Ahmed Mohamed “TwoFour” was frustrated that the Attorney General was taking too long to process his Police Board case. He confronted the AG on the street about it. He openly stated he worked hard to bring this government to power and deserved the appointment. During this same period, while bitter and vocal about being sidelined, he met with former President Yameen and shared his grievances. Yameen. The man this president betrayed. The man running a rival party. The man whose political network TwoFour was part of before switching sides. That meeting either slipped through Atheeq’s intelligence net or was deliberately overlooked. Neither explanation is acceptable. If it slipped through, the unit is incompetent. If it was overlooked, the unit decided that a CP candidate’s loyalty meetings with the president’s political rival weren’t a concern, while the Police Board’s top-ranked candidate was somehow a national security risk worth eliminating with a fabricated report. The pattern is clear. Atheeq’s operation doesn’t vet for competence, diplomatic risk, or security. It vets for one thing: political obedience. A cabinet minister who insults allied heads of state passes because he’s loyal. A CP who meets with the president’s enemy passes because he’s controllable. The only person who fails is the one the Police Board ranked first, because an independent commissioner is the one thing this system cannot tolerate. This isn’t an intelligence service. It’s a loyalty filter. And the country pays for every appointment it clears.

Update Another tweet. This time #Maldives Cabinet Minister Ali Shareef @aleeshareef is implying Maldives didn’t need India’s help to defeat the enemy in the 1988 coup. Link: x.com/aleeshareef/st… cc: @HCIMaldives @MEAIndia @narendramodi #India

Dear Islamic Minister Sheikh-ul-Dhakthoor @Mohamedshaheem1 Can you please help me understand the "reasoning" the "Buhdhi" behind this Rule. 👇
Aishath Velizenee@velizenee

Oooh! Lovely! 💚❤️🤍 Ministers look so beautiful w their shiny coloured, pruned & groomed hair... Reminds me of 1980s #UnitedColoursofBenetton ads! Tell me @MvStateAttys @SinamalePolice, Does "Hair Colour Black" Rule in Dress Code apply ONLY to Civil Service? Under what Law? 🙄

‼️🚨UPDATE A PNC insider just told me Sajidha is very upset. Holhi Muizzu refused to give her family lawyer @aminadhis a ministry. She has shared this within her inner circle group, which is Aarashu Picnic group. This is where she discusses her political opinions & personal things too. But somehow Sajidha secured one ministry. Her long-term colleague within the health sector, Geela is now Health Minister. It's Her choice.

In the hottest month of the year, the only trees on Male’ waterfront that provide the pedestrians with shade are uprooted and discarded. @MTCCPlc and @MoCImv have no motive to keep the greenery. Most trees planted on market area are dead. Roads are for vehicles only it seems.
Bluepeace@bluepeacemv

Several trees were uprooted for road expansion along Bodutharufaanu magu, #Malecity, #Maldives, are highly tolerant of high salinity, making them excellent choices for planting along roadsides after construction. Hope these uprooted trees are replanted after the road expansion.
