One thing that is being overlooked when talking about the conversion of Hagia Sophia into a Mosque is what will be done about the Christian mosaics in the structure? Turning the structure into a Mosque presumably means that such mosaics will be erased. An erasing of history.

@AnwarOmeish It is a defilement. Plastering over and otherwise hiding great Christian works of art is defilement. Those giant, round plywood Islamic slogans are another defilement. The smaller Hagia Sophia in Trabzon is not open at all except to Muslims.

it's obviously fine if you think the hagia sophia should be a museum rather than a mosque or vice versa, but there's really no good explanation for the global drama about this and the language being used except, well, islamophobia. (1/)
