@beritori @vivziereceipts If you don't mind me asking, how did you became a part of the Hazbin project with Combo? Were you already working for Combo and when they announced they got Hazbin as a client, you jumped into that wagon or you just applied for the show on Combo Studios' casting call?

An outsourced artist who worked on Hazbin has spoken out about being underpaid and uncredited. Sadly, this isn't an issue specific to Vivienne, Spindlehorse, or even Amazon, but a completely unacceptable norm seen across the animation industry.

@vivziereceipts I know this is maybe not as popular a subject as the original tweet made it out to be, but I'm grateful that this brought this situation more attention anyway.

@vivziereceipts I'm trying to be clearer that this is about systemic practices in how outsourced work is contracted, compensated, and credited. multiple parties contribute to that system.

@starlenade ❤️ thanks! it ended up being a good thing in the end. many are now reading the explaination I wrote about outsourcing, and the more people who know, especially animation fans who can advocate for us, the better.

@beritori Yeah for sure! I’m sorry how much attention this got towards you. I hope that outsourcing and rates for Brazil’s animation industry improves in the future and that crediting you and your fellow artists work will be more common for the whole animation industry.

@FaithfullyMari combo could've negotiated better terms, spindlehorse could've asked about outsourced team conditions and made sure to credit us and to know who's making the show, but the system is designed so nobody has to, or frankly seems to want to. that's what bothers me.

@FaithfullyMari was this spindlehorse being evil? probably not. this is how outsourcing works. layers of separation mean the production doesn't see our conditions, and we don't get treated as part of the team.

@SpelunkerQueen @Rigg4577 about combo only working one episode: i genuinely don't know. outsourcing relationships are between the client and the studio, not individual freelancers and the client. could be scheduling, budget allocation, other studio contracts - not something i'd have insight into.

@SpelunkerQueen @Rigg4577 the work was technically demanding. these were detailed, complex backgrounds. timelines were tight, which is standard for outsourced work but definitely intense when you're working on intricate designs. the rate was fixed per background regardless of complexity.

@mintycatboy and for people to know that many times great shows are being made by people who are not in the credits, had much lower compensation and were, in general, much removed from the process. I wish this weren't so, I wish we could question why we're treated so differently
