Overwhelmingly the case that "locals don't want to work" means "I don't want to pay a wage that attracts locals". Sorry, no business is entitled to cheap foreign labour as a subsidy. If it can't profit while paying a wage that attracts local workers, it shouldn't survive
Sarbjit Kaur@sarbjitkaur1

New program is a start but just this morning a friend was complaining he can't find workers. For his Landscaping build business in GTA. He said the locals don't wanna work and everyone else leaving. Everyone here working, not a criminal - should have a chance at PR.

This thing is trading like it's going bankrupt soon, $4b debt, market cap $2.3b, leverage 5x EBITDA, property developments on nearly every continent BBB- rating by Fitch, one notch above junk status, canary in a coal mine, watch this one very closely #ausbiz #Lendease $LLC #RBA

@AvidCommentator Iran may have a long road, but for the rest of us, well, that's another matter.

"Depending on loading rate, Iran could handle another 4-6 weeks in tanker loadings provided no additional empty tankers arrive. Add to that, vacant storage capacity on shore." Its still a long road before Iran's oil production is dramatically curtailed.
TankerTrackers.com, Inc.@TankerTrackers

Fair assessment; at least in terms of Iran’s current inability to exfiltrate the blockade perimeter with oil. That said, empty tankers have been entering the perimeter. Depending on loading rate, Iran could handle another 4-6 weeks in tanker loadings provided no additional empty tankers arrive. Add to that, vacant storage capacity on shore.

@BRAZZERSBOT @fictillius @nascentjude Not a free market. Deliberately managed to prevent movement downwards since Howard era using the Greenberg approach that in Oz outlived the GFC.

Since the start of the war, Chinese long bond yields have been remarkably stable. The bond market correctly gauging China's resilience stemming from its sizable commodity reserves. Chart: U.K FT

@BikoKonstantin1 I worked for a global property corporate.in 90s early 00's We took median land price per block and median house price and tracked against structural employment from the 1970s. The women in the workforce correlated directly to a double up in both values within a year.

In the past, a household only needed 1 income to buy a house and support a family. Now 2 incomes doesn't even seem enough. What went wrong?

Imagine your a leader of a nation, someone says, 15% of your goods economy is going to grind to a halt unless you pay whatever price you have to for oil Are you going to beg, borrow and steal whatever you need to pay ~$200 a barrel? Or do you let your economy fall off a cliff?

I'm noticing we are back at the: "The government will throw huge money at the property market, they cant let it fall" stage of the narrative To be fair they are entirely correct, if today's status quo continues there will be intervention. But how absurdly broken is that...

@zerohedge Has a 1999 vibe about it. Small cap ghost companies (generally junior exploration miners with billions of worthless shares on offer) on the ASX were consolidated, capitalised, renamed and poof they were e-something companies with 100's of % sudden price growth. Then 2000 came...

When the GFC hit Ireland all the Polish workers fled and Irish propadee prices fell over 50% When this recession hits Australia all of our imported immigrants from the subcontinent with three mortgages will return home and leave our banks holding the bag Albo just keeps bringing them in to keep our Ponzi ticking over Will be interesting to watch when it all unwinds
