Even in 1946 after independence , despite most PCCs backing Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for PM,but Mahatma Gandhi chose Jawaharlal Nehru believing he was better suited for the vision, popularity and future India needed at that moment. Leadership decisions in Congress were never just about internal numbers alone, they were also about public mood, ground reality, vision and mass connection, other wise many Rajasthan will happen again.
