The DeFi Vibes are returning Now with native assets, with lessons learned, with safety and security at the core Love to see it $RUJI
RayMontreal@RaymondMontreal

Is this how we DeFi? Bruh, too easy I'm already bonding with a great node operator, so I'm comfortable with @THORChain staking mechanics. Unfortunately, bonded capital is locked up. Since I like $RUNE and feel comfortable with it (investing is about understanding and managing risk), what a great opportunity I saw here with $bRUNE I just tried this on @RujiraNetwork as a proof of concept for myself... and it was FUN! Process: 1- I deposited some BTC as collateral 2- borrowed $USDC at 40% loan-to-value 3- got RUNE with the USDC 4- swapped for bRUNE & staked it 5- set rewards to USDC paying out every $2, thanks to @AutoRujira Periodically I'll pay down my loan with the bRUNE returns. Borrowing under 5% interest on a stablecoin while confidently earning 15% + on bRUNE Part of my staked $RUJI also pays out in USDC - those revenues will contribute to paying down the debt too. Eventually, I'll have freed up my collateral and acquired a few thousand RUNE on someone else's money I think I'm winning this time

This past week, the degenerate gamblers in the crypto space exposed themselves: they don't think this is useful, or critical, financial infrastructure. If they did, they wouldn't be advocating for decentralized systems to be shut down because the wrong people are using them. No, I won't pull the fire alarm because you lost money at the casino.

What the actual fuck is even happening to our industry. Satoshi is probably rolling in his grave. Thorchain is doing everything right, and all these web3 toddlers are upset because they clearly don't even understand the first thing about crypto, and just think this is a space to make quick unregulated buck. Web3 is not just about making money, it's about a core philosophy and belief that in the digital era, TRUE ownership should be possible. That's it. Full stop. It started as something sorta cyberpunk, but as our world as evolved into the online one it is today, this is now something i believe everyone should have access too. But no one seems to appreciate what risks that freedom comes with. By all means, do keep your money in a bank, or invested in stocks, if you enjoy the projection that bring you. But do not expect it in web3. You should not be here because "it's like stocks, but with more potential upside" or you WILL get burned 99/100 times. But for me, the mere concept that anyone in this space would ever expect any funds to be frozen, or help to rendered in general, in the case of a scam or exploit is still absolutely mind boggling to me. It's nice when it happens; it can build trust and save projects. But it inherently should not be expected in this space, it's a built-in, omnipotent risk that everyone should account for at all times. It's just that it's a risk we take because we value the benefits of web3 even more. ------- So, about the recent KelpDAO and LayerZero exploit. You know who's "at fault" for the recent KelpDAO exploit? 1. KelpDAO for failing to enhance their LZ setup, and even further, to completely rely on a third party tool like LZ without deeply, intimately understanding it; the least i'd expect for a project handling 100s of millions of dollars.* 2. LayerZero for allowing so many teams to use their setup in the 1:1 config, and to be honest, for having the exploit in that 1:1 DVN config at all.* 3. And finally, in a weird but very real way, as rough as it sounds. It's on everyone that put money into KelpDAO, trusting a less than 5 year old protocol with hundreds of millions of dollars, without inspecting the code themselves.** This is web3, and there are inherent risks that people should understand. Hackers wouldn't have the incentive they do for these thefts if people weren't so willing to ape their funds into every new "opportunity" that emerges with limited due diligence, or if teams put more into security then they do chasing TVL. *No, i am genuinely not trying to bash either team here, we're going to see a lot more exploits like this soon from teams far more seasoned than them, (and not just in web3, i.e. mythos style threats.) Im just saying that objectively, some blame obviously lies there. **No, im not saying i inspect the source code of every dApp i put money into. Not at all. But what i am saying is that i put money in there fully understanding that i didn't inspect it, that it's not FDIC insured or similar, and that any loss incurred is on me. Again, this is the true wild west of the internet and of finance, it's not your easy ticket to a lambo. ------- MEANWHILE There sits Thorchain, following the core philosophy and ethos of web3, just providing the service it promised, no questions asked, full stop. And yet, it's somehow getting hate for it? In the attached image, one commenter says "you see stolen funds getting laundered on your platform and you do nothing." And it truly makes me wonder if he's just like "professor" Jiang that wants to know where the bitcoin servers are. Just because there's a @THORChain twitter account that someone owns, does NOT mean that anyone "owns" ThorCHAIN the blockchain. It's no one persons platform. If you don't think it should be a completely open DeFi exchange with no restrictions, then go buy a fuck load of $RUNE and start talking to some validators, and make it that way through governance. But since that won't be happening, id instead urge you and everyone like these two in the image to take a step back and reconsider what you're actually even asking for here. Even if you did control Thorchain, do you think it would continue to exist if you turned it into a centralized, censorable version of it's current self? Absolutely not, because then it's little different from a CEX. Decentralization is not all upside, and if you were every told that, im sorry you were mislead. It's far from the greatest thing since sliced bread. Decentralization has MASSIVE drawbacks compared to centralized systems in many ways; but we value it for the specific ways in which it provides a better alternative. Hating on Thorchain for operating as designed is just absurd. If not from everything i've listed here, then just for that simple fact. ------ Bottom line, Thorchain was built to do exactly this; let anyone in the world swap any amount of crypto between wallets and chains whenever they want. If you don't like that fact, that's perfectly fine, i certainly wouldn't ever judge you for it, but, it probably means you need to reevaluate if you should even be involved in crypto at all.

I support THORChain's decision of remaining neutral to funds moving according to protocol rules I understand protocols having admin keys in early stages while code is still maturing and I believe these keys should be removed once it achieves a mature state I also agree on setting good precedents and keeping the credible-neutrality in the early days (even with admin keys) is super important to build a solid foundation culture-wise I don't hold RUNE but I still think THORChain is doing the right thing here and this drama only encourages me to study the project more in depth now Decentralization and credible neutrality is how we can build better standards moving forward
Patriotsounds@patriotsounds

Tay blocked me so she can avoid challenges to her lies, so I'll post this. The purpose of the admin mimir was an emergency stop in case there was a bug in our immature code base. This admin mimir was subservient to node consensus, meaning nodes could easily override it.

1/3 .@THORChain’s mythical “Admin Mimir”… Yes, deprecated since early 2025, but what powers did it actually had then? - Freeze tokens in selected addresses (ala USDC/T)? NO! - Seize tokens directly from selected addresses (ala Arbitrum)? NO!

Thorchain is getting some much needed viz lately They have had their fair share of fuckups over time but the state of the chain is pretty amazing, tbh A small group of people support it. No labs funding the thing. Just grit Meanwhile it is more decentralized than 98% of things, has no inflation and has real revenue It pays consistently and now has a very interesting application layer in @RujiraNetwork It does what it says it does and yet people are continually incensed
Ethan Kravitz@EthosVentures

The cognitive dissonance around Thorchain is always hilarious. After almost 2 decades there are less than 5 chains that are truly decentralized and have any semblance of product market fit. People truly hate Thorchain for actually doing what every other chain pretends to do.

What this actually looks like: ICE tries to get woman who thinks she's being cute for a video to move her vehicle. Three agents surround the vehicle, one from the front, two from the driver's side. Likely looking to gain control of the situation. It is not cute to them, as they're being surrounded by a mob. Woman panics, realizing this is in fact not cute, and attempts to flee thinking she can avoid arrest. Tire loses traction and the car doesn't immediately respond to gas input. Woman panics further and guns the gas causing an erratic vehicle take off. Agent at the front of the vehicle almost gets hit. Agents respond by opening fire thinking the woman is using the vehicle as a deadly weapon, trying to hit the lead ICE agent at the front of the vehicle. Woman who shouldn't have even been there, but was there because she got spun out of control on TikTok drama dies. Agents have to live with it. Will likely have people demanding a mob-style execution by COB today. What the Right Wants: Psychotic leftist domestic terrorist tries to kill ICE agents! We should use more force. What the Left Wants: Fascist NAZI psychopaths are murdering women and children! We should use more force. Who actually wins: Minnesota politicians and bureaucrats who can spin this into a riot and continue to avoid accountability for fraud. Federal politicians who can use the flames to continue to avoid accountability for a billionaire child sex trafficking ring. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. Don't be stupid, stupid.

BREAKING: Woman shot and killed by ICE agent during altercation in Minneapolis. This is a developing situation. — Video analysis provided by @F530Josh : Cell phone footage recorded near East 34th Street and Portland Avenue shows members of ICE attempting to clear a blocked road during on-going operations in the Minneapolis area. It's unclear exactly what caused the individual driving the vehicle to block the road, but it's likely that the person was attempting to impede ICE operations in the area which is fairly normal for downtown Minneapolis. After several seconds, the vehicle in question attempts to drive away from the ICE agents that are confronting the driver. The wheels of the suspect vehicle slip on the ice before the driver gets traction and starts to speed away from the scene, prompting the ICE agents to open fire, killing the driver and causing them to crash into an adjacent power pole and vehicle. Due to the angle of the recording camera, it's unclear if the ICE agent was in front of the vehicle, which would likely justify the shooting as cars are commonly referred to as deadly weapons when the driver turns them into a battering ram against law enforcement.

Seeing this theory around- that $CVX is only pumping because people are mistaking it for Chevron stock. Folks, you are aware that $CVX is only on like 2 major exchanges and neither of them are particularly known for their tokenized stock trading, right? Unless you think some Coinbase/Binance users somehow forgot that these are crypto exchanges that they’ve been using for the past 5 years and not stock exchanges this argument is a weak one lol. $XRP erased 4 years of bearish PA in 23 days. $CVX will do the same at some point (even if it’s not now) and it won’t be because it shares a ticker with Chevron lol.

Now that ZKEVMs are at alpha stage (production-quality performance, remaining work is safety) and PeerDAS is live on mainnet, it's time to talk more about what this combination means for Ethereum. These are not minor improvements; they are shifting Ethereum into being a fundamentally new and more powerful kind of decentralized network. To see why, let's look at the two major types of p2p network so far: BitTorrent (2000): huge total bandwidth, highly decentralized, no consensus Bitcoin (2009): highly decentralized, consensus, but low bandwidth - because it’s not “distributed” in the sense of work being split up, it’s *replicated* Now, Ethereum with PeerDAS (2025) and ZK-EVMs (expect small portions of the network using it in 2026), we get: decentralized, consensus and high bandwidth The trilemma has been solved - not on paper, but with live running code, of which one half (data availability sampling) is *on mainnet today*, and the other half (ZK-EVMs) is *production-quality on performance today* - safety is what remains. This was a 10-year journey (see the first commit of my original post on DAS here: github.com/ethereum/resea… , and ZK-EVM attempts started in ~2020), but it's finally here. Over the next ~4 years, expect to see the full extent of this vision roll out: * In 2026, large non-ZKEVM-dependent gas limit increases due to BALs and ePBS, and we'll see the first opportunities to run a ZKEVM node * In 2026-28, gas repricings, changes to state structure, exec payload going into blobs, and other adjustments to make higher gas limits safe * In 2027-30, large further gas limit increases, as ZKEVM becomes the primary way to validate blocks on the network A third piece of this is distributed block building. A long-term ideal holy grail is to get to a future where the full block is *never* constituted in one single place. This will not be necessary for a long time, but IMO it is worth striving for us at least have the capability to do that. Even before that point, we want the meaningful authority in block building to be as distributed as possible. This can be done either in-protocol (eg. maybe we figure out how to expand FOCIL to make it a primary channel for txs), or out-of-protocol with distributed builder marketplaces. This reduces risk of centralized interference with real-time transaction inclusion, AND it creates a better environment for geographical fairness. Onward.
