@faustocoppi60 Extending the 3k rule doesn’t impact the riding. If you are dropped, you will lose time effectively, so flat stages do not become easier. It only prevents gc riders from losing time when they have mechanicals or crashes

Today's first crash in the finale happened with 7 km to go and as expected, I've read some tweets from cyclists/teams tonight that the sprint stages should be neutralized for GC in the last 7-10 km to go. In my opinion, after UCI agrees to extend the 3 km rule to the last 10 km, the next step will most likely be to completely neutralize the sprint stages for GC. Just to be sure. Also the prototype of the future Grand Tour rider is a very skinny but fragile rider (without a lot of bike handling skills because they're not needed anymore) brought straight from the laboratory/Zwift who can ride mountain time trials at speed of light. For the teams, it sounds awesome. Less things to worry, they will probably all vote for it. For the image of the sport, I don't think that neutralizing more and more kms is a smart idea. This is not "racing" anymore. #Giro

@joxerslaney And what about the other riders that went down with Remco, they also shouldn’t benefit from the 3k rule?

@declercqben In the first sprint won by Milan, Alpecin were in the front with 10k to go. Todays sprint was effected by the crash with over 7k to go. No one sprint situation is the same as another. Remco doesn’t deserve to benefit from the 3k rule today, he caused his own crash.

I think they should change the current 3k rule in flat stages in grand tours, before the 3k mark you don’t even see the sprinters teams at the front and it leads to too many crashes. I think they should take effective times at 3k and extend 3k rule to 10k #Giro2023

Seeing that the break is riding in a chain in #MilanoSanremo instead of taking turns seperately. That means always two guys taking wind and recovery time much lower. The energy they lose over 300km is huge
