@Tratnikstan "Geil" (which is what Lefevere used in the original Flemish) has a slightly different meaning there (and in German) than "horny" does in English (it used to be purely sexual, but got additional meanings over time), but yeah, it's close enough.

@Den95504207 @lucasaganronald Lotto has been investing more in performance together with the university of Ghent. I don't think the training conditions are as backwards as some like to make it appear. But yeah, there is no money for all the luxuries at UAE. But Visma doesn't have that either.

RED BULL WANTS TO SIGN ARNAUD DE LIE We have just March, but we already have some transfer rumours. HLN brings the first one. According to them, Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe is interested in signing the Belgian bull Arnaud De Lie and making him the main leader for the classics. De Lie’s contract at Lotto is expiring at the end of the season, so the move would be possible, but it would surprise me, as at Red Bull he does not have a guarantee not only to be the leader, but to even start at for example, the Tour de France. Jordi Meuss’ contract is also expiring at the end of the season, so if De Lie comes, it looks like Meuss will be leaving the Red Bull team. How do you think this will end?

On that topic, how many "super teams" would you say there currently are in men's pro cycling? I think there's only 1, UAE Team Emirates. 🤔 Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe has the budget but not the performance and results, while Visma-Lease a Bike is financially too restricted at the moment, and Lidl-Trek might be a Top 5 team, but I wouldn't call them a "super team" right now.

I assume Netcompany is the new name sponsor, replacing INEOS in INEOS-TotalEnergies. But while the headline says "to rebuild super team status", they will need more financial power than 50 million EUR per year to do that.

Problem for Decathlon-CMA CGM is, they have to pay more money for Seixas than non-French teams. A team like UAE & Visma can move him to Andorra, offer him 6 million as a contractor, and he'll have more than 5 million in his pocket after taxes. A French team would need to pay 8 million for him to keep like 5 in his pocket, due to social secutiry contributions and such.

It's quite fascinating to contemplate the contractual value of Paul Sexias in 2028, after his contract with Decathlon-CMA CGM runs out. 💸 Right now, it sounds ridiculous but his projected value is anywhere between 4 and 8 million EUR per year by that point. But, despite great results in the last 9 months, there is no confirmation of whether he will succesfully complete his first Grand Tour, which could temper these estimations. What do you think a team will be willing to pay Paul Seixas on a yearly basis, in 2028?

Vorige week dinsdag gestart ergens in Palermo en gisteren, na 1100km terug in Palermo. Het eiland helemaal rond gereden EN tot 1900m geklommen op de Etna. Super mooi en al e, maar het verkeer is van een ander niveau.

@BenjiNaesen Honestly Benji, does the merger make sense for anyone except Bourlart? His team brings nothing but debt to Lotto, the best riders leave, sponsors like Nippo and Vini Fantini want out and the riders and staff at Lotto are unhappy and in uncertainty.

This makes absolutely no sense. Biniam Girmay has a contract with the paying agent of Intermarché, and the Lotto-Intermarché team continues on the license of Lotto, not Intermarché. "Cyclingnews has been told that the UCI has somehow used its regulations to 'block' Girmay from terminating his contract." How can Lotto-Intermarché sign Biniam Girmay to Lotto's paying agent after Intermarché's paying agent stops, without the permission of Biniam Girmay?

☑️Loyal employees fired ☑️Not being able to extend decent riders who wanted to and riders with contracts fired ☑️Leaders unhappy cause of no communication and uncertainty ☑️Very talented development riders leaving cause of no communication and uncertainty ☑️A new CEO that raises questions (Intermarché-Wanty in debt, can't convince his good riders to join, ...) ❌Best riders from Intermarché joining ❌Big budget increase A merger always has bad consequences, consequences that you could see as "worth it" if it leads to something really positive, at least in the long term, but with some of the best Intermarché riders not joining the new project and without the big budget increase this was all about, this one just isn't. Still hoping there's something we don't know that makes this whole merger the right thing to do and not a huge mistake, but for now it just doesn't look good (and I know who's to blame). I'm noticing I care less every day. I'm gonna take some time off following everything cycling related, and I'll see in a month or so if this team is still worth following.
