@calicomccoy @DanielleFong totally. This is how I read tons of rat fake and other extremely long stuff, phone reader with Text to speech. hadn't thought about using 11 though that's cool

I’ve done a lot more reading because I keep putting pdfs into eleven reader which reformats them to be narrower and work on both the phone and the laptop. And if I need to switch from reading to listening because I need my hands to eat or something, then I can seamlessly switch to an eleven labs voice reading the text!

@joodalooped although you were saying against the pattern of making single sentence paragraphs with air between them? I think this is fine probably but a matter of taste. I think a lot of our ideas about the physics of text come from constraints around printers not around readers

interesting piece. I think it runs e/acc and worthy successor types together too much. e/acc is a loose collection of poasters who hate regulation and like technology go brr, more like the dark enlightenment than a community. worthy successor is a relatively close knit sect that weaves together transhumanism and a strange realist flavor of hedonic utilitarianism. I like the discussion of humanism as the natural alternative. in my view the alternative is simple: instead of full-sending some weird alien god for mystical reasons we should use AI to figure out what humanity collectively wants, using the best new tools from voting theory to maximize human preference satisfaction, and then settle the stars in accordance with the fullest expression of human will. this doesn't require us to figure out ex ante what humanity should become, just to commit to controlling AI instead of losing control and sharing the cosmic bounty among humanity.
