@ItalianExplore2 @dorfman_p Index linked to 2012! Get a clue yourself. EDF said the cost of the new nuclear power station in Somerset could hit as much as £46bn, up from £18bn in 2015 prices, as it pushed the completion date to 2029 at the earliest (prob 2031). Who coulda guessed? ft.com/content/c1e3bd…

@Theranello @jasonhickel There's no 'limit' to the scale aquaponics can be done at... and like many technologies I daresay it would get cheaper to do at scale. And as I said, it takes much less water (& land space), than farming those 'vegetables' on open soil... land which could be re-wilded instead.🤷‍♂️

This is remarkable: 170 Dutch academics put together a 5-point manifesto for economic change after the C19 crisis, building on #degrowth principles. It has gone viral in Dutch media. In this thread I'll summarize the points in English. trouw.nl/duurzaamheid-n…

@ItalianExplore2 @dorfman_p Total UK demand is 35GW/hour 28 million homes with FREE electricity is a big problem for the legacy energy corps - like EVs are a big problem for legacy ICE manufacturers. Electrifying heating & transport is more difficult & will require both domestic PV & all other renewables.

@ItalianExplore2 @dorfman_p 112GW of PV is based on all 28 million households in the UK having a 4kw PV kit on their roof & battery storage. Obvs some won't be able to for one reason or another. It is for illustrative purposes.

@ItalianExplore2 @dorfman_p Funny, I have a 1kw solar PV kit + 5kwh of lithium batteries. I get 1000kwh a year from it & use all of that without exporting to the grid. At today's UK prices that's about £500 worth of electricity a year. The kit paid for itself in 3 years & it's all FREE electric now.🤔

@ItalianExplore2 P.S. that replacement system in 25yrs time (paid for by surpluses), means that after 4 years (paying for the original array), I would have FREE electricity forever, replacing the PV every 25 yrs with money saved from surpluses exported to the grid. "Renewables"🖖🖖🖖

@ItalianExplore2 I have a small 800w offgrid system with 5kwh batteries & have reduced my electricity demand from the grid by 30% in a year. A grid tied system 5x as big would leave me in credit exporting more than I use (surplus which pays for a replacement system in 25yrs time).

@ItalianExplore2 28 million PV X 4kw = 112GW peak EDF nuke is 3.2GW x 2 = 6.4GW peak So 17.5 X more PV peak Even if you divide by 3 = 5.8 X more PV peak Include batteries & there's no interuption of supply at night. See? Simple maths.
