@CallMeGrrr @Coolnasenbaer The good old "Let me make claims and leave it to the other person to prove them." Exactly like a flat earth or COVID or "immigrants replacing us" crazy conspiracy theory nut does. If that's your level of debate style, simply fuck off.

@defpac76381 @Coolnasenbaer You can look 'em up yourself, mate. I'm neither your Google assistant nor do I care what some stranger on the internet believes or doesn't. If it matters to you, you should make the effort yourself - otherwise, stay uninformed and try to bullshit everyone you don't like.

@MagneticNorse @Blyatman0000 And just saying : to avoid such issues, many customer support desks ask you to unplug your system once. Not because it fixes anything, but it catches at least some percentage of users who missed plugging in or hitting the on/off switch...

@MagneticNorse My fav assistant prof at university told me a story how he once had to do an emergency flight to a customer who couldn't log in any more. He arrived there, sat down, unlocked caps lock, customer logged in, my guy flew back home.

Actually existing libertarianism: Argentina's self-declared "anarcho-capitalist" leader Javier Milei is rapidly deindustrializing the country. Milei's "free market" policies have resulted in the world’s second-worst industrial decline. Argentina’s manufacturing sector declined by 7.9% from 2023 to 2025 (surpassed only by Hungary). More than 2,400 industrial companies have closed and 73,000 manufacturing jobs have been lost, representing 5% of Argentina's total industrial companies. By contrast, in Brazil, where the government has engaged in industrial policy to support domestic manufacturing, industry grew by 3.5% in the same period. Very Brexit Problems

So this is what a Trump “victory” looks like: • $45 billion spent - at $1 billion a day • 15 Americans killed, 300+ wounded • Oil up 55%, biggest supply disruption in history • US bases hit across 7 countries, AWACS destroyed on the ground • F-15 shot down. 300 million dollars of planes lost in rescue mission. • Global alliances in tatters • Thousands of Iranian civilians dead • Billions of dollars of infrastructure destroyed across the Gulf And what does MAGA America gain Iran keeps its uranium. No nuclear deal. The Strait of Hormuz still treacherous. The art of the deal.

@GaryHaubold @admcollingwood Trump and "knows" in one sentence, pleeeease. NYT has written in great detail how all the things that happened after the first attack were shown to Trump by the experts ... he ignored their predictions, because he "knows better". All of this achieved nothing, but dead Iranians.

I think we should all applaud Donald Trump this morning. He accepted the Big L far earlier than I thought he would. This takes a big man. Most wouldn't have done it. Given he has accepted Iranian terms as a basis for negotiations, it seems possible that no agreement will be reached when the US media and political class get stuck into the implications of this. But 10 out of 10 to Trump for doing this before a land invasion and much greater economic pain (yet minus a million for getting into this trap to begin with.)

Daniel Foubert 🇵🇱🇫🇷
The Iranian regime spent 47 years chanting "Death to America." It took Donald Trump one night to do the job. This is America's Suez. In 1956, Britain threatened Egypt, drew a hard line, and then folded under American pressure — retreating from a canal it had controlled for decades. The world didn't need a formal announcement to understand what had happened. The retreat itself was the announcement. Britain never recovered its imperial credibility. Within a generation, the empire was gone. Tonight, the United States threatened to erase a civilization if Iran didn't open the Strait freely. Ninety minutes before the deadline, it agreed to let Iran run the Strait — on Iran's terms, at Iran's price, in China's currency — and called it a victory. "For a period of two weeks, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible via coordination with Iran's Armed Forces and with due consideration of technical limitations." That sentence, published by Tehran, is the tombstone. The US didn't contest it. The US didn't rebut it. The US went to bed. For 35 years, American military dominance in the Gulf rested on a single credible proposition: that no regional power could close the Strait without facing overwhelming consequences. That proposition is now gone. Iran closed it for 39 days, extracted a ceasefire on its own terms, institutionalized a toll system denominated in yuan, claimed sovereign authority over an international waterway, and watched the world's superpower declare victory on social media. Every adversary on earth watched tonight. Every ally did too.

@gepardtatze @vonderburchard I consider it reasonable that military leadership told him "No!" on his requests to commit warcrimes. He ran out of ideas and options, so he chickens out. Best option, for sure. But the long term consequences of the whole war, and how it supposedly will end are HORRIBLE.

@WhoamI50600422 @cabsav456 DJT is the guy who claims "look Pakistan opened up this door" ... when we have seen that the US BEGGED Pakistan to make that claim. Trump chickened out once, and the world has again seen, that even with stakes like this, he is a loudmouth without a plan.

I'm very glad we have a ceasefire. I hope it lasts. But if Iran gets to charge $2 million per ship for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz during these 2 weeks (and potentially beyond), which feels like it's already a done deal, that's ridiculous. The strait was a free international waterway for decades. Turning it into a paid toll booth, even temporarily, after the military campaign hands the regime a direct cash windfall for "reconstruction" while they keep control over coordination and who gets through. It also shifts the precedent in their favor unless the final negotiations in Islamabad aggressively reverse it.

@rthak50 @AdamKinzinger The idea of bringing down that regime isn't totally crazy. But there is a reason no prior POTUS was talked into it by Israel... They understood the risk. Trump didn't, and the best we can say is he chickened out before destroying the global economy for good.

The people of Iran aren’t free. Iran can now charge tolls. The nuclear material sits EXACTLY where it did, in the same amount, since June. The regime is still in place with a younger ayatollah. Iran still was launching missiles, now with more money to rebuild. Period

I didn't vote to burn my house down. I just voted to pour gasoline all over everything I own and then handed the keys to Crazy Arson Jim. I thought it would be funny to watch the fumes bother the guy next door, how was I supposed to know this would happen?
