Dear @ShashiTharoor , I enjoyed your spirited defence of Rahul Gandhi. Alas, it does not address the central thesis of my column and interview—his dismal leadership record. The facts speak for themselves.The Congress suffered heavy defeats in three successive General Elections fought under his leadership. Meanwhile, the number of Congress MLAs has come down by almost 50% under his watch. In 2013, the Congress was in power in 14 states. That was the party Rahul Gandhi inherited. Now the Congress is in power in just 5 states. As the countrywide footprint of the party shrinks, surely its principal leader should be held accountable? Or is that a question too uncomfortable for the Congress to face?

Come on, @Ram_Guha, this is a bit much. What experience did Barack Obama, a first-term Senator from Illinois, have in world affairs when he became President of the most powerful country on earth, while it was caught up in multiple global issues? For that matter, how much international exposure did the CM of Gujarat have to manage India’s International relationships? @RahulGandhi has led a national party for a dozen years. He has extensive contacts with leaders around the world and no shortage of advisers inside and outside his party. No President or PM handles crises alone; that’s why he heads a government! I think it’s time to put this overblown controversy to rest.

You can't fit Ambedkar in one ideology or thought process. He was against Muslims, against caste hindus, against Mahars his own caste people from Konkan region. He preferred social reforms over political and economic. Just holding his books makes no sense overall

Bjp for decades forced a narrative- Existence against Muslims. Better Education, health care, Food quality, air quality, pollution levels, Falling bridges, rising rupees, crumbling economy, despicable per capita etc etc is undoubtedly important issues but only if you survive.

It simply reveals how unimaginative they themselves are. If you're young, be respectful, above all be peaceful, but be passionate and loud about your demands. His family is ruling Raebareli since independence only for 5 years BJP came to power there that’s it other than that congress is ruling that city for nearly 7 decades. And its GDP per capita is even WORST than UP average per capita. Raebareli is literally one of the POOREST city of whole UP per capita is 45,000 rupees Is this enough or should I give you more reasons @arvindchotia ?

Such posts are counterproductive by design - they supply your enemies with ammo and give them a chance to gloat over. These whiny, emotional takes achieve nothing of value. Do you genuinely think this girl will see this thread, read the barrage of insults, and dump him to appease a group already stereotyped as “Bigoted Dihati incels”? Not every thing needs a public commentary. Leave the patrolling to her parents. If you want to tackle this issue on a large scale , you speak with strength and indifference not with “WHY YOU DATE SOMEBODY ELSE RAAAAA” . Posts like these will further encourage this behaviour as a rebellion against the “bigoted religious extremism crowd”. You need to look at these people with disgust to achieve what you want , not with tears in your eyes. Patrolling on Internet will never work in your favour. Other side will always double down , how is that hard to understand ?
