I do! And I also remember their failure to pursue charges against him with the full weight of the federal government once Biden was sworn in. There were tactical failures surrounding impeachment I can forgive. But there was also a massive strategic failure that I cannot.
Reagan Gomez@ReaganGomez

Do ppl not remember his 1st term when D*ms had control of The House & Impeached him? Twice. And the R*pub controlled Senate *refused* to convict him, WHICH WOULD HAVE PREVENTED HIM FROM RUNNING AGAIN. Do we just not remember that 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

The "Dark Forest" explanation of the Fermi Paradox posits that we've yet to find alien life because there's too little light and all these trees in the way

I often find myself thinking about the villain in Tenet, a rich and powerful man who’s dying and is so obsessed with his own narcissistic control of others that he’d rather destroy the world than forfeit one ounce of his influence over it. No reason why that’s on my mind lately.

@nikicaga Actually baffled at the number of people pretending they don't understand, "the shitty, complicated problems created over decades are going to require solutions that develop over decades," in these replies.

"why do you want kids to go to the movies alone. You must be a creep" No, I am an adult looking back at the trust my parents had in me and the small appropriate acts of independence I experienced and thinking both were good for me.

One of my frustrations with our current moment is that so many leftists were loudly stating "I can hold my nose and vote for Harris but other people won't if you keep doing this" and centrists and votescolds ignored us and now blame us for pointing out the problem they created.
arvo färt@arvofart

@thecursedlemon @niceversepie @ContraPoints This is precisely what I mean when I say that when centrists punch left, they’re referring to a bloc that mostly exists only in concept. I, like most people on the left, voted for Harris in spite of our misgivings. Is your issue, then, that I wasn’t appropriately enthusiastic?

we were not 8. brokeback mountain is not porn. no one gives a shit about what 8 years old watch or ppl who like their families. "why would you watch broke back mountain as a kid" omg why would the 13yo girls and gays wanna see heath ledger what reason could there possibly be
Kaya Eden Green@kayaedengreen

@theashleyray Why would you watch broke back mountain as a kid though?? 👀 This is the point… kids need to be kids and not worry about sexual content. This is the reason why 8yrs old are bullied for still watching kids shows or teens for going to movies with their family.

I get comfort primarily from intellectualizing trauma. That has the side effect of being helpful for other people when I verbalize the results, but it doesn’t fix the underlying wounds. It’s like how a damage report isn’t the same thing as a repair.

Btw it keeps being brought to my attention that many people haven’t deduced that whenever I tweet things like this, it’s informed by firsthand experience. Just because I’m choosing to disclose trauma in the form of analysis doesn’t make it any less valid than explicit venting.
Vivian@suchnerve

“Why are schools so bad at handling bullying?” Because we live in an abuse culture, which means proper handling of bullying would require challenging the status quo; an institution purpose-built for indoctrination into the status quo is the last place that will ever challenge it.

On Feb 18, the NYT broke the news Trump was sending a war armada to Iran. Jeffries did not issue a formal statement about Iran until Feb 26, 8 days later (which was entirely process criticism), then proceeded to schedule a war powers vote for the week AFTER the bombing started.

One problem for Democrats is that left-wing people pretend they aren’t doing stuff that they are in fact doing in order to further fuel the flames of anti-establishment sentiment.

Trump is an idiosyncratic figure in some respects and not necessarily representative of "capital" writ large but in his capacity to hold totally unexamined ideas from 1982 with near-religious fervor he is more typical of these people than not. They are mostly very stupid!

It is just very odd to talk about the law and the constitution in a society where the very first article of the constitution says that Congress gets the war powers but everyone, including Congress, ignores that because war is too profitable

Jeffries could have put the War Powers Resolution on the floor before recess. He and Meeks chose not to. Sorry I’m not impressed that he tweeted condemnation of Trump’s profane Easter genocidal mania. Actual bare minimum.

this is what you support when you vote for democrats, you can try to sugarcoat it and say it’s harm reduction but, really, you’re just supporting people who also want to give more money to Israel and destroy Iran but with a bit more lipstick on the pig

It’s incredible how absent Democratic Party leadership is in the face of Trump blowing up the entire fucking world.
