@ProGolfCritic Wonder if PIF does actually end up funding LIV next year, but maybe only as much as $50 million instead of $200+ million

I think this is an important point. The strategic move made by PIF / Golf Saudi is not leaving sport/golf, it’s a redirection of resources. CIO of @Golf_Saudi, Thomas Rudy made it clear a month ago: “First, we're not LIV Golf. We want to support the best (golfers) with amazing tournaments around the world. Our job is not to run another league or disrupt existing organizations.” Their focus is bringing sanctioning bodies together, putting out a great product & promoting what's happening with golf in Saudi Arabia. That’s a huge shift from 5 years ago and expect to see more of this in the coming years.

The first thing the new guys should do is stop the bad comms tactics, replace the top of the comms div, stop the leaks from a certain team owner (heck maybe even apply the conduct unbecoming a professional rule), and use the firm of one of the 2 new guys to take over the crisis management while both of them work with restructuring. Good luck, you are going to need it! My 2 cents #EDJZ

@CapitanTed WRONG AGAIN! Just people in the industry asking what are the ulterior motives of a certain player and/or management firm. For the record, it is a LIV player.

“LIV’s Saudi backers are keen for the league to continue in some form, but are unwilling to keep funding the competition indefinitely if it keeps up its rate of losses, according to people with direct knowledge of the strategy of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.” - Bloomberg, Jan 2026.

@edjbox No - it’ll be a different format it sounds like. Maybe they’ll make it another match play event like I’ve been asking for. One way to salvage.

Flushing It@flushingitgolf·
Majesticks GC Captain, Ian Poulter, has put the new McLaren irons in his bag ahead of their full launch on Wednesday of this week. Speaking to Flushing It Golf, Ian said: “It’s been incredible to see McLaren enter the world of golf. Their history in motorsport as a benchmark for engineering, performance, and innovation brings a huge depth of knowledge and experience. “As an investor alongside some outstanding people, this promises to be a very exciting journey. “Justin Rose has played a pivotal role in testing and development with the McLaren team over the last two years. Knowing his relentless drive for perfection, he brings an exceptional eye and deep understanding of equipment. “It feels like a perfect partnership to work with the McLaren Golf team. Zak Brown has built an incredible culture and driven McLaren back to the top since he arrived. Back-to-back Constructors’ Championships, the 2025 Drivers’ Championship, and hopefully many golf championships to follow. “The Series 1 irons are a modern Tour Blade super clean profile inspired by a muscle back. But the difference beneath the surface you have proprietary metal blends and internal weighting which enhances consistency and stability. “They have the feel of a forged iron due to the proprietary metal composition and the MIM process (Metal injection Moulding) “I’m excited to dial these in and put them into play.” McLaren have really hit the ground running and I’m looking forward to seeing these clubs in person. @IanJamesPoulter @MajesticksGC @McLarenF1

@ProGolfCritic Uninspiring. Should've been Justin Leonard if they wanted someone younger. Shame that Larry Nelson & Hale Irwin never got to be captain & probably too late now. I couldn't see TW in 2027 in an away match (even w/o arrest), 2029 at home more likely. And they're not picking Phil😞

Tomorrow, LIV Golf arrives in Mexico 🇲🇽 What started as disruption…is now shaping a new reality for global golf. Formats are changing. Audiences are shifting. The business model is being rewritten. The real story isn’t the leaderboard anymore it’s how the game itself is evolving. ⛳️ We’re not watching a tournament. We’re watching a transformation. #LIVGolf #SportsBusiness #Golf

@ProGolfCritic Wonder what happened to his friend J Spieth at Augusta? He’s had good finishes here since the 2016 collapse, but not consistent. Same applies with only 2 wins since his 2017 Open title. And he’s won events & a major since the 2016 masters collapse but has never been the same.

Random thought: I honestly thought Justin Thomas would have won #TheMasters by now. But has never finished better than 4th. Currently t-45. Only 32 years old & has time I guess, but has only been going downhill since 2022. 🤷🏽‍♂️

@parandpaddock @ProGolfCritic And to update everyone, Tyrrell Hatton shot 66 to get back in this thing. Even though he shot 74 his first round, you can win even with that early score, it's been done before here. So maybe an overreaction early on your part.

@parandpaddock @ProGolfCritic We'll see for the other majors, but Bryson would've been maybe +2 if it wasn't for 11 (again). Patrick Reed is still playing overseas (played in 4 events since leaving LIV) and this is his first tournament in the states this year, yet he is doing well.

Results thus far for the @livgolf_league players in #TheMasters is validating what I said: 72 holes is NOT better major prep & Doral was a better lead in. This is trending to be the 1st Masters where the LIV scoring average has not beat the field average & by quite a sizable margin. They played much better last year. It is what it is. Of course they’re missing some of their best & it’s a short sample size so far and we’ll see where things net out, but they may need to reevaluate.

@ProGolfCritic @TGL Also, SoFi stadium should have public access hours to play, probably by appointment only, with obviously waivers and some supervision so that people don't go crazy and hit in the stands for example. I'm sure there would be a great way to experience what the pros do.

As many of you know, I toured the @TGL SoFi Center in FL a few weeks back. It’s a super impressive facility & I do love the concept for all the reasons I say on the podcast. BUT with the season over, I have a Top 5 things I think they need to update to improve it: 1️⃣ Tech & Game Play: Full Swing has to go & replace it with @TrackmanGolf. Everyone knows it. I also play on a GC Quad Sim and the game play is more realistic. I think they’re married to FS which will hold it back. It’s the wedge shots that are the biggest issue & leads to inconsistent readings. 2️⃣ Teams: make them make sense. Some pairings make sense Tommy/Rose, Tommy/Collin, most of Atlanta Drive. But not having Rory/Shane, Xander/PC or Adam Scott/MWL on the same team seems like a miss. 3️⃣ Move to Offseason: the injury concerns are real to me. Xander, Sahith, Collin, JT, Rory, etc. And the event conflicts are problematic. It’s great to keep players sharper and on our TV during the offseason. They’re always trying to get LIV to move to the fall, no. THIS needs to be in the fall. No football Tues/Wed/Fri. Do it. 4️⃣ Players: integrate LIV & LIV players. I don’t know how you can go on pretending like the majority of the most interesting players in world golf don’t exist. And it gives us some built in intrigue with rivalries, etc. Rory/Tiger playing Bryson/Phil is WAY more intriguing than anything they have now. You can ignore LIV if you want - but it’s going to limit how good this product can be. 5️⃣ Complete Teams: I need the whole team there for EVERY match. If we have a 4 person team, we can’t fudge it with picking/choosing 3, or randomly adding players because others can’t attend. No, it’s the cost of signing up/contracts. And we need them all in the same gear. LIV gets this right. TGL needs to figure this out. Look, I’m very aware that TGL been weaponized against LIV and that’s why a lot of LIV fans dislike it. That’s fine, but that won’t always be the case. I’ve been consistent that I want it to work because it can be additive and give us more golf during a time of year that we don’t have a lot. There are a lot of golf fans that don’t watch football (me) and it’s going to get buried during the golf season IMO with all the other golf that we have. If the PGAT is planning on shortening the schedule, this fits. It probably doesn’t need to be live & most games can be condensed to an hour. People will say “what about gambling” but I don’t think anyone should be gambling on this until it’s a proven concept. Personal opinion. Lots of fans sound like the anti-LIV crowd saying that “it’s going away soon” - but I know it’s not, so get used to it & we should make the most of it. Again, you don’t have to like/watch all things to appreciate their place in the pro golf ecosystem. That applies here. Looking forward to more improvements for S3! See you there! ✅
