@mrmckee In his defense I’ve met Evin Priest and he doesn’t hate LIV. He gets it. One of the good guys who’s in a tough spot with who he works for.

Honest question for the mainstream golf pundits like Eamon Lynch or Evin Priest etc who hate LIV, can you explain to me why this is bad for golf but whats happening at the Valspar Championship this week is better for golf?

@JCAGOLFReport From what I’ve heard he hasn’t changed. Doesn’t mean he’ll have that much power initially, but it helps change the culture over time. No question.

Colin Montgomerie has been appointed to the European Tour Group (DPWT) board. Montgomerie has historically being a staunch supporter of the European Tour (DPWT). Back in 2022 he said the following about the golf divide and the tour rift with LIV Golf: "We have to work together." Meaning work with LIV. In 2024 he admitted he was "quite depressed" about the DPWT letting other tours take their players. His full quote: "Yeah, I'm getting quite depressed now, as I speak on behalf of my old tour, the European Tour. Yes, it's weakened; there's no denying it. You can paint it up as much as you want. You could paint it rose-tinted, whatever you want to do, but come on. [In] any business [if] you give away your top 10? He added: "Top 10 in your business every year is going to be weaker, isn't it? So [it's] great for the PGA Tour; I can't believe they accepted it, to be honest, because they're taking spots away from Americans, but good on them to get them. Unfortunately, Europe, Europe has suffered, and the European Tour will suffer because of it." It remains to be seen if he has changed his views or if he is actually going to influence that board to make the correct business decisions for the good of the DPWT. We all know what the "correct" business decision for the DPWT should be.

It’s the biggest golf event in 🇿🇦 since the 2003 @PresidentsCup. In time, it will be the biggest event in 🇿🇦 golf history. Same trajectory as Adelaide🇦🇺. Every South African pro golfer is looking at this event wanting to be part of it. That’s the model. It’s a game changer. 💯
