@DixieHussar This sentiment feeds into the angle that Confederates often argued, which is the idea that the North and South are fundamentally different macro-cultural entities (not quite 'ethnicities'). Stuff like Plymouth vs. Jamestown descent arguments post-war, "Cavaliers vs. Puritans" &c.
