
Man Killed After Pointing Gun at Jacksonville Officer in Apparent Su*c*de-by-Cop Incident Jacksonville, Florida - The incident resulted in the death of 49-year-old Michael Krause. Krause had a prior criminal history that included Domestic Battery, Driving Under the Influence, Possession of a Controlled Substance Without a Prescription, Petty Theft, and Discharging a Firearm in Public. Had Krause survived his injuries, he would have been arrested for multiple counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer. At 9:16 a.m., Krause entered a convenience store on Bowden Road. Five minutes later, he pulled out an apparent handgun and pointed it at the store clerk. Krause demanded that the clerk call the police, stating that he wanted to die and wanted the police to kill him. The customers inside the store quickly left, and the clerk called for police assistance. While still inside the store, Krause threatened that he was going to come out shooting. Officers arrived on scene moments after receiving the call and took tactical positions around the store. At 9:30 a.m., Krause exited the store and began moving quickly toward Officer Cascante with his right arm outstretched in front of his body and his weapon pointed at the officer. Officer Cascante fired his rifle, striking Krause. Krause fell to the ground, and his weapon hit the pavement.
