Mamdani won with the lowest share of the vote of any mayor in decades. He got 50.7% of the vote in an 85% Democratic city. He does not have a mandate to transform New York, and no amount of followers in the developing world is going to change that.
Hochul, Menin and many other New York politicians are going to learn that they can build their platforms and their legacies by resisting the crazy agenda of this polarizing extremist mayor.

Brooklyn Tech used to be majority black and brown. The test didn’t change, what changed was lack of rigor across NYC schools, elimination of gifted & talented classrooms in black and brown neighborhoods, and the subsequent popularity of charter schools.

Stuyvesant High School in New York City takes only the ~850 top scorers of the 25,000 kids who take the city's high school application test, the SHSAT. The results are consistent with the demographics of my hypothetical "test only" Columbia class: Asians dramatically outdo other groups, whites hold their ground, and all others crash. The SHSAT has been contested by civil rights groups for decades. Mamdani ran on abolishing the test, though quietly changed his position before the general.

No one is saying caring about Palestinian children is the problem.
The problem is claiming to care about ALL children while your own public record tells a different story.
