#Haiti: Solino trembles, gang hell forces mass exodus of thousands of families
For more than four days, the Solino neighborhood has been hit by a wave of unprecedented violence. The gangs of the "Viv Ansanm" coalition seem determined to take control of this once peaceful neighborhood. Despite the combined efforts of the population and the police to repel the criminals, the residents of this locality have been forced to flee.
In just five days, from October 17 to 22, 2024, five thousand residents were forced to leave the Solino neighborhood under threat from armed gangs. These criminals are trying at all costs to control this area, under the complicit gaze of the Haitian authorities. Faced with the violent attacks of these criminals, around five thousand people have already fled their homes to take refuge in various other neighborhoods of the capital.
In addition, the Haitian National Police (PNH) announced that it had established its headquarters in Solino in order to repel criminals seeking to settle there. The criminals caused considerable damage, setting fire to houses and killing several people.
The inhabitants of Port-au-Prince have become nomads in their own territory, exposed daily to endless blind violence.

Children whose entire villages were burned down, who heard their mothers being raped and killed, their fathers shot-then were chased by soldiers on horseback, screaming at them in a foreign language until they escaped. Children who walked all the way to Ethiopia only to be shot at and forced to jump into crocodile-infested waters... And you think they deserved that because 'war isn't new' to us? You know that's exactly what they're saying about you right now, right? Just another tragedy in Africa!
