Iuliia Mendel was Volodymyr's Zelensky's close associate and press officer between 2019-2021. During her tenure, she had a "front row seat" to major events, including meetings with foreign leaders and visits to the Donbas front lines. Following her departure from the press secretary role in 2021, she remained involved with the administration as a consultant. She recently gave an interview to Tucker Carlson where she accused Zelensky of the following: Zelensky is intentionally prolonging the war for personal and political gain, she says it has “lost its meaning” and he is the main beneficiary, making him the biggest obstacle to peace. Zelensky is a regular cocaine user, claims it's an “open secret” with multiple witnesses seeing him take drugs in clubs. She also saus he would disappear before interviews and return “full of energy”. Zelensky is protecting inner-circle corruption and money laundering, he shields close associates who launder hundreds of millions and covers up the schemes. Zelensky is emotionally unstable and has a fake public persona, he “changes masks,” fakes empathy on camera (“teddy bear on camera, grizzly bear when lights go off”) but has none in private and "destroys" people around him. She claims he personally agreed to cede Donbas in the 2022 Istanbul talks to stop the war but now publicly refuses and says he “can’t give it up”. She accuses him of a power grab and hollowing out democracy, claims he accumulates unchecked power and uses unconstitutional sanctions to silence critics. Zelensky sends political opponents and critics to the frontlines (as punishment/persecution; “people grabbed on the streets and forced to the frontlines”). Zelensky is a paranoid dictator who jails critics on trumped-up “pro-Russian” charges, suppresses media/dissent, and creates an atmosphere of fear. Zelensky plays the “poor guy in a cheap sweater” while his family has always been wealthy and his inner circle gets illegal shares/profits Zelensky sabotages anti-corruption reforms (e.g., at Naftogaz) and damages Ukraine’s international/Western support. As you can see, she paints a very different picture of Zelensky, one might say the exact opposite, of the one western media is fond of portraying him.
