I remembered when Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his campaign talked about widening the Tax net, Obidients which included me at the time run around with it and jokingly mocked him by calling him a tax collector. On a closer observation over time I realised that given the conditions of the economy, it made no sense not to have an effective tax system. Governance needs money to run and in our case trillions of dollars has been sunk into subsidy on fuel and dollars. What Nigerians should appreciate this administration for especially on the tax law is that the government realised it needs money through tax but at the same time shouldn't place the burden on the people. The poor and the vulnerable wouldn't pay and payments only increases as income/profits increases. The elites who saw this as a direct attack on their wealth used gullible Nigerians to fight the tax law. This is one of the reasons I don't rate Obidients. They're not the smartest.

No one has ever seen a video or tweet from this guy giving solutions to any critical issues of the country. He's running a campaign on a promise of what he couldn't deliver in 8 years as governor. If you can not be trusted with little things, greater things can not be commissioned to you. Sane Nigerians, please reject this man for the sake of your future. He has no plans for you.

@iamchrisrocksz @kelvin_chike Did Obi steal? He's not been convicted for any crime. Did Tinubu steal? He's not been convicted for any crime. You believe Obi is not a thief but believe Tinubu is a thief. Can't you see your double standards?

There is a Yoruba proverb that clearly explains the Tinubu's administration policy reforms: Ní tútù là ńká ẹja kò; ẹja gbígbẹ ò ṣeé ká (You can only bend/shape a fish while it's still fresh; once it dries up, any attempt to bend it will break it.) This administration is taking bold decisions that are 30-50 years overdue and so it's just normal that the effects on the people would be harsh. Tinubu is making an economic surgical miracle. Nigerians will enjoy the fruit in no time.
Gbotemi@confindence24

Nigerians don't research. They run with what they see on social media - actor Zack Orji tackles Nigerians who blasts the Tinubu government over high cost of living.

JUST IN: Nigeria earned much more money from selling goods and services to other countries than it spent on imports in early 2026. The extra money left over grew from $1.4 billion to $4.98 billion, showing stronger trade and more foreign earnings for the country.

The summary of that Peter Obi interview is, “just make me president abeg, stop stressing me.” He had no clarity on any of the issues. He went as far as saying anyone who doesn’t like him doesn’t mean well for Nigeria. That’s the sort of delusion his followers thrive on. I met some diplomats last year. Their issue with the opposition candidates, they said, is that whenever you ask what they’ll do differently, the answer is always, “that’s not the issue. Let me get there first.” Peter Obi exemplifies that disconnect. To become president, you must start by being in touch with reality. He is out of touch. And no matter how many times he calls his interviewers by name or holds their hands in that psychological plea for mercy, as long as he keeps opening his mouth, he will keep showing why no sane Nigerian will ever consider him for president. The presidency is not an experiment. And that’s a beautiful thing, because he would have made for a disastrous one.

Willie Obiano said that his administration inherited significant debts and liabilities from Obi’s tenure. Peter Obi lied about leaving Anambra state debt-free and with savings. Almost everything he said about his time as governor has been lies. You can fact-check this if you think know I am lying. Obi has been fooling you all.

So I’m the bigot now? 😂 Not the person who: - Dismissed NADECO people because they were mainly Yoruba - Called an “Igbo must go” post genocidal, but described a “poison Yoruba and Edo people” post as a mere hate speech - Went on air to say “they said it’s Yoruba’s turn” - Was heard saying “yes daddy, yes daddy” - Asked if bread was cheaper in Ogun State - Pushed claims about an imaginary WhatsApp group that immediately put a target on Yoruba people I voted for Obi in the last election. Back then, nobody called me a bigot. Now that I’ve concluded Tinubu is the better option at this point in time, suddenly I’ve become one? The real bigotry is the refusal to support any candidate who isn’t Igbo. Stop projecting your own ethnic loyalty onto everyone else. Not everyone thinks the way you do.

@funto_peter This is what Yoruba is known for, another election is coming and hate division and bigotry is flying here and there just because they want it to themselves, a tribe that is known for criminality they can do anything to discredit anybody just because they need power is unfortunate

Obidients and Tinubu detractors love to cut this video at "...if I don’t deliver, don’t vote for me" because it fits their agenda. That’s exactly why context matters. The President has signed critical electricity reforms into law, and policies are now in motion to fix the sector. Yet many Nigerians are still trying to solve a 2026 problem with 2014 thinking and tools. Governors now have the power and legal backing to fix electricity challenges in their states. The question is: what are they doing? What is your state government doing? Nigerian governors and LGA chairmen are let off the hook too easily. Real accountability must start there too. It's no longer sensible to direct all blames to the federal when more powers are being given to the state and LGAs.
Dr. Toks 🦇@fimiletoks

You guys are too daft. - PBAT has signed the Electricity Act to allow states generate, transmit and distribute power. - PBAT has transferred full regulatory powers to State Electricity Agencies to regulate and create their laws that fit their electricity market. - PBAT is completing 2 major gas pipeline to pipe gas across the country for thermal plants - AKK and OB3. The last major pipeline Escravos - Lagos, was built in 1989. - PBAT has floated a bond to pay N4trn legacy debts owed to Gencos for 13 years. This is will help restore investor confidence in the sector. - PBAT has unbundled the TCN to create a Nigerian Independent System Operator stripping TCN of regulatory powers and allowing it to focus on physical infrastructure. - The $2.3bn Siemens transmission expansion project is ongoing - The Presidential Metering Initiative is ongoing. You guys have zero ideas on how nations are built.

I think you confuse widening the tax net to mean increasing the tax rate. If anything the rate for the poor has dropped. The tax law just tries to capture more and be fair. The rich are essentially the ones paying the most taxes and running the government. So, I really don't get what the fuss is all about.

I'm not here to defend Obidients but widening the tax net in a poor country like Nigeria is a stvpid idea or should I say came from the act of criminality. Everyday millions and billions of naira gets stolen and the government cannot account for it, you are telling people to pay tax to an irresponsible government who haven't given them a single reason to trust them. The money from subsidy what are they doing with it, Tinubu gave it to the useless governors to squander,it has zero positive effect in the life of the ordinary man and now you want us to pay tax so these foolish givernors can continue delivering white elephant projects and insecurity to us? Sorry bro we don't do that here.

NO APOLOGIES, PLEASE. On Peter Obi’s supposed ‘Stinginess’.... Sometime in 2009, ‘Mr’(as he preferred to be addressed) Peter Obi, Governor Of Anambra State at the time, visited Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and myself at Dallas, Texas. He came to deliver a get well message from the President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan and was billed to attend a black tie event at the Dallas Marriot. Curiously, he flew into Dallas airport with one small carry on luggage which he insisted on wheeling around himself, and on getting to our residence requested to freshen up. He opened his carry on, filled with files and paperwork and a few toiletries and an extra shirt, when the Ikemba and I asked if he was expecting another item of luggage, and he said no. ‘Then, what will you be wearing to the event tonight?’, we inquired. It was at that point that it struck him that he couldn’t show up in his casuals at such a ceremony. I insisted on taking him to the luxury men’s emporium at Nieman Marcus to buy a smart black suit. When we got there, he was busy doing the Dollar to Naira currency conversions. The suit that was a perfect match for him was a dapper Tom Ford suit with a price tag of 3,985 dollars plus tax. He did the calculations and told me ‘Do you know how many students this amount of money can train in Nigeria?’ I reminded him that he was the governor as well as the special guest, and for the caliber of guests expected at that evening’s occasion, including the mayor, senators and other congressmen, oil barons and captains of conglomerates amongst others, he needed to be dressed in top form. To cut the story short, he refused to pay what he termed ’that outrageous price’ for the Tom Ford suit and that was how we ended up at Steinmart where he agreed to pay a more acceptable price of 220 dollars, tax inclusive, for a basic men’s suit which he was happy to wear to that evening’s event. What struck me, was that as we were on the way to the airport to see him off for his return flight back to Nigeria, he reached for his pocket where he brought out an envelope of crisp hundred dollar bills. The amount in the envelope was 3,800 dollars. He said, ‘Anyanwu, this is the balance of the money I would have paid for the ‘Ford’ suit. If the label on the suit was ‘Peter Obi’, I am wondering if anybody in America will pay that amount for it. I have deducted the amount we paid for that suit we eventually bought. Please use this balance for your Charity foundation to help those in actual need. I trust you will do so’. We all laughed heartily. Vintage Peter Obi ! The eventual beneficiaries of that Largesse were Madam Theresa Agbo, a yam seller who became penniless and displaced when her Yam shed was gutted by fire, Callistus Egbe who was bedridden due to illness, and needed help with the school fees of his young children, and the Mgbemena family of six who were thrown out of their one room accommodation (which we subsequently doubled to two rooms) because their breadwinner fell upon hard times and could no longer afford the rent. In Life, You either live by your creed or you desecrate the mould by which the Almighty created you. Any progressive nation measures an individual by his values, not his vaults. If this way of life is what is derided as ‘stinginess’ on the part of Peter Obi, then we all need to adopt this mould for a more sustainable and more humane environment. Iyom Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu 16 June 2022.
