@GLSnj @JamesSurowiecki …so why didn't the GOP withhold their votes and also vote by mail?
English

@JamesSurowiecki You see first you count the Republican ballots so you know hpw many Democrat ballots to create to win the election... that's been going on in California for decades
English

The continued insistence that early mail-in ballots - which made up only about a third of all ballots - are somehow more legitimate than mail-in ballots cast close to or on Election Day is absurd. There is no reason to believe the first group of ballots is somehow more "real" than the later, larger group of ballots.
Raman did well with people who voted later (and there were more of them), while Pratt did well with people who voted earlier. There is nothing any more suspicious about the first fact than about than the second.

English

@Rell___1984 @sun_of_sin__ @JasonJournoDC @chamath number of COUNTIES?!
COUNTIES?! Which can have as few as 500 and as many as 12 million people?? (L.A. county)
Are you saying tiny COUNTIES count the same as massive ones?
Biden won most cities; Trump won heavily rural areas with far fewer people.
jesus christ you're pathetic
English

@sun_of_sin__ @JasonJournoDC @chamath The only bullshit is that you morons think Joe Biden won the most votes in US history while winning the least amount of counties (by far) in the same election. He was brought into power by the same mail-in ballot fraud that we’re seeing in California to this day🤡
English

💥NEW: @chamath on LA Mayor Election: “I’m for mathematical and statistical literacy. And what happened here is mathematically and statistically IMPOSSIBLE … I can tell you the statistical odds that this would have happened — and it’s one in a trillion!”
English

@MarkBons2 @JasonJournoDC @chamath … Trump was never ahead in Pennsylvania. The total number of ballots were counted. Biden won. Not a surprise, given that Trump did a terrible job. You have been tricked by the Pennsylvania GOP.
English

@MarkBons2 @JasonJournoDC @chamath As Imm sure you know, the PA GOP-controlled state house and state senate *actually passed a law* saying mail-in ballots had to be counted *after* same-day ballots even if they were received before. This had the effect of making it seem like Trump was "ahead" in Penn.
English

@MarkBons2 @JasonJournoDC @chamath Trump cheats. So he believes *everyone else* cheats. Or he tells himself this to justify his criminal actions in advance.
There are multiple reports of Trump acknowledging his loss to close advisors in Nov 2020. You know darn well a GOP Gov and GOP SOS aren't rigging for Biden.
English

@MarkBons2 @JasonJournoDC @chamath Uh, does one of your 8 states include Georgia? It does, right? Republican governor? Republican secretary of state? Trump literally called the Secretary of State and badgered him for an hour to get him to "find" exactly 11,780 ballots? (Read: fraudulently manufacture.)
English

@CraigHarrisNews @jp_twist @DeAngelisCorey Thanks for your work, Craig. A reminder that Twitter now deliberately promotes conservative messages and that Musk has essentially rigged the algorithm. Don't think that the critical messages are reflective of real life. They're not.
English

@BradWesley17 @JamesSurowiecki This has always been the case (except for the nonexistent nonsense). The GOP used to have a fantastic ground game. Trump sabotaged that in 2020 when he lied about mail-in ballots; he wanted to ensure only Dems voted mail-in so those ballots could be *excluded* on false pretenses.
English

@JamesSurowiecki Correct. Ballots can be harvested from the indifferent and nonexistent at any stage in the process. If we’re ok as a society with elections decided by who can organize the ground game to collect the most ballots, then you’ve got yourself quite the system there. Kudos.
English

@bitchyalphame @JamesSurowiecki Given that Karen Bass -- the current mayor -- and the entire Bass campaign wanted Pratt to be her opponent, bc polls projected her beating Pratt by 18 in Nov while losing to Rahman by 4 -- who is it you think rigged the election? And how? And why?
English

@JamesSurowiecki Yeah, I mean It's all so believable. I know exactly what you're talking about. Everything makes perfect sense. Nothing to see here.
English

@midnightbaby79 @tie_wet @xwanyex That's assuming the person fills it out with the family member watching. They could literally go somewhere else and mail it themselves, away from the person's eyes.
Also, are we really claiming this happens more w/ *Democrats*? Republican men don't pressure their wives? Really?
English

Re mail voting: I’m just telling you that it is literally unbelievable that people are not having votes cast for them or being pressured into changing their vote by family members, etc.
That’s literally impossible to believe. No smart person can believe it. It’s literally impossible to believe.
We can argue about whether it’s just a few people or a lot of people. That’s fine. We can have that argument. But it’s literally impossible to believe that it’s not happening. Of course it’s happening. It is impossible to believe that that’s not happening.
English

@skepticaliblog @xwanyex Given that you have the story, it seems very strange you didn't post the link.
English

@skepticaliblog @xwanyex The way you've cropped this story implies that it took place in this election. You've left out two things. It took place in 2020, and one of the people who brought it to light was Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, an elected *Democrat.*

English

@Paul_Danner_ @ChesterHotSauce @ForgiatoBlow47 are any of them from 2020? Like in Georgia, where Trump literally demanded the Republican Secretary of State forge 11,780 ballots for him?
English

@ChesterHotSauce @ForgiatoBlow47 Holy self own.
Democrats need to use Ai to generate ballot stuffing images while Patriots have literally hundreds, if not thousands, of videos of democrats actually ballot stuffing.
English

@ForgiatoBlow47 How come you still have that completely false post up, from June 13, about 675 Pratt votes in "San Recto," a town that literally does not exist? And, given that you're so comfortable keeping flat-out lies posted, why should we believe anything else you post?
English

@zje214 @E_Barcohana you can drop ballots in mailboxes or drop boxes on the day of the election (at the last minute) or the day before. so it can, in fact, be both.
English

@E_Barcohana The last part is what I have been saying, all I heard was everyone was holding until last minute, but they also mail in, which is it?
English

A lot is bothering me today but something in particular is the condescension, the accusation we were delusional all along to even dare believe Pratt could beat Raman.
This is narrative revisionism.
One thing they point to is the Berkeley/LA Times poll, the last poll taken that ended up correctly predicting Bass #1 and Raman #2.
But what everyone conveniently forgets is the margin of error in that poll was large enough that it was also interpreted as a statistical tie among the 3 of them, and the momentum and money was all on Pratt.
Another thing they repeat is LA would never vote for a MAGA Republican. But there are Council Districts who went 70%+ for Kamala in 2024 and then voted for Pratt for Mayor and Steyer for President? And we know approx half of his voters are Democrats. So overnight, the most elite liberals in America that live in deepest Blue West LA where you have to hide if you voted for Trump are now … MAGA Republicans?
And another thing is we know Democrats are the best at voting early by mail but this time only Raman voters procrastinated until the very last day and turnout doubled (or in some demographics increased 5x) on Election Day, and suddenly we are being told they “always” do that?
I have a lot of questions.

The moral of the boy who cried wolf is that the boy’s dishonesty was deadly to him, not that people were wrong to disbelieve him. If anyone with a hard earned reputation for honesty alleged fraud, they’d deserve a hearing. At this point that excludes the entire Republican Party.
Sean T at RCP@SeanTrende
The LA fraud story is really unconvincing on my read, but I wish people would be less knee-jerk in rejecting allegations of fraud. It does happen and elections have even been reversed in my lifetime because of it. The moral of the boy who cried wolf is not that wolves don’t exist
English

@BurnTriggrMastr @PamelaHensley22 do u seriously think followers on a conservative-owned website have anything to do with the number of votes in a left-leaning city?
English

@PamelaHensley22 Followers on X are...
Steve Hilton - 434.7 Thousand
Xavier Becerra - 61.8 Thousand
Spencer Pratt - 1.2 MILLION
Karen Bass- 583.3 Thousand
Nithya Raman- 45.3 Thousand
Ballot count .... 🤔🤨

The enthusiastic gloating over a the loss of a candidate whose entire campaign was simply to clean up his hometown is one the most disgusting displays of arrogance and ugliness I’ve ever seen in my life.
This is nothing short of political bullying. It’s abhorrent and it is increasingly why the ideal of American politics being of the people and for the people is being supplanted by professional grifters and communist activists.
Absolutely disgusted.
