Uniswap v4 hooks unlock an entirely new space for onchain markets. KPEGs are what come after JPEGs: a collectible that’s generated by trading itself, fully onchain, with no IPFS nor external storage.
CryptoKitties proved unmistakably that gamified, tradable digital collectibles can go mainstream. Buttressed by the @base momentum and low fees, KPEGs are built to spread fast.
// What KPEGs Are
Inspired by Unipeg on Ethereum, our 9,999 KPEGs are an homage to CryptoKitties, built using Uniswap v4’s custom hook logic. Where CryptoKitties let players buy, sell, and breed NFTs with unique traits, KPEG pushes that behavior directly into the swap path, the market action is the minting mechanic. Only whole integer tokens (1, 2, 3 etc...) become SVG KPEGs.
// How It Works
KPEG uses a custom v4 hook to render a unique 32×32 collectible image entirely on Base chain with no external storage nor IPFS.
When a swap occurs, the hook generates a hash that encodes the piece’s layers, colors, and original owner. 0.99 and below are fractional KPEG tokens that have yet to generate the SVG.
The amount you buy affects rarity. Your trade size becomes part of the hash, and the hash becomes the input to the renderer.
The SVG renderer reads that input and assembles a one-of-one kitten. In other words:
Your kitten’s appearance is a function of how much kPEG you purchased. Its provenance is a function of how early you collected it.
