@Jack_THFC_2003 Its sad that they can't just enjoy their moment and have to ruin it with the usual petty bitterness. For a fact if England went out and Scotland stayed in we'd be cheering them on whole heartedly.

@aenarion96045 @kittoched He's refering to the declaration of Arbroath which, among other things, declared that sovereignty ultimately derives from the people rather than the king. It was an inspiration for the American declaration of Independence, which asserts the same idea.

@kittoched The Scottish parliament only exists as a devolution of the English parliament which only exists as a devolution of the Monarchy. Parliament is sovereign the people aren’t, how can the people be sovereign do you think Scotland is a direct democracy?

@ronniethetim Another daft thing is if England went out most of them would probably switch to supporting Scotland, but when Scotland go out they will support whichever team England is playing. And yet the Tartan Army are apparently the nice ones.

Possibly the daftest thing about this world Cup is how triggered the English are by the Tartan Army just doing what it does wherever it goes.

@cllrjameshunt @UKParliament @CommonsSpeaker It doesn't. The law only requires that you recite the words, it doesn't prohibit prefixing a statement (she isn't the first by any means), and it doesn't say that you have to mean it

@BjCruickshank If it's broken then it was built broken, since this has always been the case in the UK (including pre-union scotland where instead of a cabinet you had a privy council and instead of a pm you had a chancellor)

It looks as though 25,000 people in England have chosen the next Prime Minister of the UK. Let that sink in Scotland, British democracy is truly broken. Scottish independence is crucially important if we are to save our country from English fascism.

BREAKING: The SNP will introduce a bill in Westminster to devolve independence referendum powers to Holyrood. 🗣️ 'It's time we take the power out of the hands of Westminster politicians and put it into the hands of a Scottish Parliament.'

Fuck off. Arrogant prick. I remember this twat seething when Scotland had the 'audacity' to stop tourists from Manchester heading North through Covid. Another gormless Anglo-state wanker. A champagne socialist cut fae the same cloth as every other Labour drone foisted on us tae sell a demonstrably false 'union'.

WESTMINSTER Who cares about Scotland most? New SNP MP Lara Bird (pictured) said, sworn in to England's parliament: "I take this oath only so that I can serve the people of Arbroath and Broughty Ferry. My first allegiance is, and always will be, to the sovereign people of Scotland". On the other hand, new Tory MP, Douglas Lumsden said: “I swear by almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to his Majesty King Charles, his heirs and successors, according to law, so help me God.”

@Ali_900r @LindsayHoyle_MP She didnt break any rules (being a lawyer i expect she knows them), and didn't do anything unprecedented. Banning her would be to subvert the democratic will of the people, and why? Because she doesnt respect an anachronistic oath?

@Alexarmstrong Its because the rules date back to the days when parliament was all male, and so the rules for male attire became quite specific. When women entered parliament no equivalent rules were set out, and female attire was guided by the vague principle of "business-like".
