The 21.2C in Newport has been rejected by the Met Office, so 20.9C in Gogerddan, Ceredigion was the UK’s warmest place today.
This still makes it the warmest day of the year so far.

When the sun is low, the light has to travel through a greater depth of Earth's atmosphere.
This scatters the longer wavelength red/orange light more than the blue - hence the different colours.
