ahsplus.ca I don't know if ABs should laugh or cry at this "satire"... it's so close to the truth it's almost hard to call it satire!!! One part it is missing is a bottom row: 1/5

Whan are Albertans going to tire of a Premier and her government indiscriminately making changes that dramatically affect Albertans? We had a referendum regarding Daylight savings that was voted down in 2021 Whether you were for/against then… You weren’t consulted now #ableg

Oh good. An omnibus bill that changes 18 things, including daylight savings time. What other treats do the UCP have in store for the last few days of this legislative session? #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

Interesting process, this daylight saving time decision by the Alberta's premier. It was announced in a newspaper column, no press conf. I asked the premier's office for a statement, got this extremely vague response from the red tape reduction ministry.... #ableg #cdnpoli

@smokie2022 @nenshi An independent Ward Boundary Commission comes up with the alignments for Calgary. And then they are approved by city council. I don't recall city council in Calgary ever voting against the commission reports. Do you know something the rest of us do not?

The independent Boundaries Commission consulted with thousands of Albertans before publishing its report. Ignoring their report is cheating. Ignoring their report is gerrymandering.

Every Calgarian should be concerned about the number of child abuse cases currently under investigation in our city. I spoke to the Calgary Police Commission last month about how these files are among the most complex, traumatic, and resource‑intensive cases we handle. Each case represents not just a criminal act, but a profound breach of trust and safety for our most vulnerable citizens. The toll these investigations take is significant. It impacts our officers, our civilian specialists, our support teams and of course, the families who rely on us for justice and protection. The emotional weight of these cases is real and it is carried quietly but relentlessly by the people who work them. In this case, that's 15 detectives who are currently assigned to the Child Abuse Unit, with nine spots currently vacant. Alongside our partners at Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, those detectives are assigned, on average, 45 files a month. That's 45 of our youngest and most vulnerable being victimized each month. It's also happening online. Our Internet Child Exploitation team tackles this issue every day. Nearly 700 files have already come into this team. That's just for Southern Alberta, and we're not even in April yet. This is indefensible. In addition to these deeply concerning trends, we're also seeing the growing impact of human trafficking in our city; an issue that is often hidden in plain sight. Human trafficking is not confined to major urban centres elsewhere. It's happening right here in Calgary, affecting both adults and youth who are coerced, exploited and stripped of their safety and dignity. Our Counter Exploitation Team continues to uncover cases where vulnerable individuals are being manipulated through violence, addiction, financial control and online recruitment. These investigations are complex, dangerous and urgently require the specialized resources necessary to identify victims early, support them safely and hold traffickers accountable. This is not just a policing issue; it's a human rights issue, and one that demands sustained investment and collaboration across our entire community.

Can someone teach Premier Smith how medicine works: 1 - a patient has symptoms. They feel something. Let's say there's a headache. 2 - a clinical history is taken. A story. 3 - a physical exam is done. Maybe that headache is shingles. 👇👇👇 4 - a differential diagnosis is generated. A list of ideas what could be the problem. 5 - treatment, testing or both are considered. Let's do a swab of that rash just above your hairline and treat with valacyclovir. 6 - a test or treatment is done and the situation is reassessed. Ah, I see the rash has crusted over now and the shingles swab is positive. You don't need an MRI. 7- at any point, a specialist opinion may be needed. The shingles has progressed close to your eye now, let's get ophthalmology to look at you. The way medicine doesn't work is I have a headache and I book myself in for a private MRI which is normal because an MRI doesn't diagnose shingles, migraine headaches, temporal arteritis or acute angle closure glaucoma. It's insane to think there is no one likely advising the Alberta government on how actual medicine is performed in 2026 - or for that matter in 2016, 2006, 1996 or 1986. The thing that should never happen is symptom leading to go get myself tested jumping the queue just because you have more money and jumping ahead of someone maybe with a new brain cancer on CT that really needs that MRI more than you for your shingles. None of what Alberta is doing is for patient good. It's for something else. But not for patients. cbc.ca/news/canada/ed…

@FreeAlbertaRob You were smart enough to know that there would be blowback if you accepted the minority report over the majority. So you simply replicate the process with new people in order to get the result that you want. And as Judge Miller warned, this will get challenged in court under S3.

@SensFaninYYC @SilentSnow89 @cspotweet The problem is that the federal excise tax (which has been at the same level for 40 years) was 4 cents on diesel. The reduction of 4 cents makes it zero.

@SilentSnow89 @cspotweet No the conservatives will tell you that he should be lowering taxes on diesel more than gas to keep the inflation down on our goods. 4 cents on diesel and 10 cents on gas doesnt really make sense but its a start…
