US is known to pay higher salaries, they do defer by the region though. A person in SF is definitely getting paid more than the one in Mississippi for the same role. That being said, it’s always a business decision which depends on a number of factors such as cost of living, demand and supply etc

A google engineer there still makes 3x what Bangalore makes. Cost of living was never the reason. Cheap labor was always the policy. That's the most elegant betrayal in corporate history.
