I’m disappointed in the Supreme Court’s decision to betray our Haitian and Syrian neighbors by allowing the Trump Administration to remove their protected status.
Haitian and Syrian Americans are a crucial part of our nation’s fabric and play an important role in Maryland’s communities. They’ve spent years in our country building their lives, starting families, contributing to our communities and our economy.
Forcing Haitians and Syrians to return to their home countries knowing that they are unsafe is dangerous and inhumane.

Today we signed a formal sister-state partnership with Liberia, marking the first such relationship between any U.S. state and Liberia.
This new partnership focuses on our shared priorities like trade, education, and public health so that we can strengthen our economic and diplomatic ties and open our doors to possibly other African nations in the process.
Maryland’s history with Liberia runs deep. Part of present-day Liberia was once the Republic of Maryland, a place where formerly enslaved people could begin new lives.
Now, we’re renewing that history, and together, we’ll deliver on projects that change lives, in both Liberia and Maryland.

@RHamp6 @HakHinton Im just speaking from my experience but 10,000,000 undocumented people came into America in 4 years. That’s an attrition rate of 2,500,000 per year. It’s unsustainable and does depress lower class wages. I don’t care how anyone feels about this economic truism at all.

@arthurwatkins Yes, it still stands. Thomas is merely stating that an undocumented person has no standing against the decisions and policies of the federal government. Constitution: Article 3 gives standing, and Birthright citizenship is a Bill of Rights matter.

@Its_RianM Nope. The market would respond to all this new money in the system. Without policy on price (and who determines the price on inelastic goods) the market would still exploit and dispossess. Like it’s doing now.
