@theblessedsalt I watched one episode where the Holy Virgin is referred to as a single mother who needed Joseph to make an honest woman out of her. Women who don’t kill ther children are nagged by horrid nuns for even thinking about it and no priest is nice or good.

Sorry, but this particular Father Brown is just not a good priest. The stories are entertaining, but they don’t take the faith seriously.

I have just read the Maze Runner for the sake of my students. Book 1. Frankly I’d take it over Divergent but… it’s still pretty mediocre at best. Some of my students are not going to like what I tell them in the morning

@Big_Belot @freganmitts I feel that’s unfair. Russian literature is filled with masterpieces written by dissidents. I’m talking about recent literature. I know no author who is pro-Putin. Very author seems to hate him and yearn for an idealized western system for Russia

@patrickcathwrit @freganmitts It's very simple. Ru literature (culture) has never been fully private, market oriented. It has always been a project to build something solid, something that will justify Russian (imperial) struggle for existence. It failed miserably in 1917 and 1991. Thus it's worthless.
