This thinking can lead you down the path of thinking that "regular people need religion because it keeps them in line"
and this thinking would be true. What would happen if we descended into atheism?

Religion is the most successful cultural adaptation in human history for a reason. A set of stories soft coded as rules were layered in to increase surival of the society.. and societies who adapted those teachings became more likely to survive and thrives... hence is spreading like wildfire.

Before covid I used to get Uber ride share just to talk to another person.
I’d ask them for advice on the city/place. Find new places to eat or sight see. Or just make a friend.
Ride share is archaic now. “It’s for poor people.” Nobody wants to be forced to talk to another person.

Society hasn’t felt the same since 2020 (Covid) There used to be an energy to everything, some little sweet tender indescribable buzz. Now it feels like the bees are all alone, wandering about the flowers looking for smells that don’t exist. It’s like there was a big party and now everyone went home. And we’re sitting on the couch the next day wondering if it was all a dream.

I used to think it’s foolish to believe things we don’t have evidence for. But some parts of experience, observation, and hope shifted me to being more open-minded.
For example, I feel like there’s some communication between people we care about or love that transcends distance. As if we can share feelings or thoughts or messages across the planet with our minds.
Could it be? What do you believe that science doesn’t?

@noodson @DavidEickholt My main issue with the Reese hype is she’s just not very skilled. Her size and aggressiveness are elite but that skill set doesn’t get you this level of hype at any other level of basketball.

@tbrodude @DragonflyJonez Man, Illinois lost out on so much talent in that era. Scheyer, DRose, Eric Gordon, Sherron Collins, Evan Turner, Shump, Ryan Boatright, etc. Killed any momentum they had after ‘05. Could even stretch it to the Jabari/Okafor/Cliff years.

I remember Pat Bev said Jon Scheyer was the best HS player in Chicagoland during his HS years. Said they called him White Mike. And Pat Bev averaged 37ppg in HS. Scheyer never got drafted. Bev had to put in work overseas. You gotta be DIFFERENT different to ever be a NBA player
