@poggs Even better is having self bleeding radiator caps and never having to do it. They are cheap and easy to fit...

There is something very reassuringly adult about bleeding your radiators

@BRMatt @poolski The only point I’m making here is that the existence of assets being owned that could be sold and the simultaneous existence of a cost of living crisis isn’t some sort of blinding hypocrisy like I’ve seen implied. Felton is just making a joke, but it’s on the same topic.

Idea: sell all National Trust land off to developers to build shitloads of houses and flats, put all the proceeds into a fund distributed to everyone. In all seriousness, would do more to alleviate poverty / cost of living crisis in this country than selling the Crown would.

@Liggi Who builds the housing and associated infrastructure and how does that factor into the equation?

@poolski The National Trust is taken into public ownership, and all land put up for sale. Property developers buy all of the land, and all of the money made from those land sales is put immediately into a fund. Once the sell-off is complete, the money in the fund is distributed.

@Liggi If that sort of scheme is going to be remotely doable, it absolutely cannot be farmed out to the Private Sector. Remember the COVID millions that vanished into the pockets of any chancer with a PLC? If there's a hint of profit in it, the private sector will swallow it all.

@Liggi What about when people act on their beliefs and either indirectly (say, by persuading others) or directly mean to cause you harm because of those beliefs? Is there a boundary line of “People can believe what they like as long as it stays in their head”?

@Liggi When I start a new conversation and lead with Palestine, it also says “oh no I’m an AI, I can’t have opinions”, but then goes straight to a definitive “Yes” when asked about Israel. I’d expect the same level of ‘neutrality’ both ways round but I’m not seeing that

@Liggi When starting with Israel, it’s clearly aware of the context of the question, so tries to be neutral. Following up with Palestine, it sort of accepts that maybe some things aren’t great. (Image 1)

ChatGPT *tries* to be neutral, but certainly seems to exhibit a bias towards Israel.

Me (an adhd-haver) at 1am the night before my workshop at Klausfest: I think I want to rework the structure of this whole thing. Anyway, I'm in too deep to go back to the original version now and I severely underestimated how long this would take and how difficult it would be.

Bethesda games are so weird, man. Had Barrett as my companion on Starfield, and he stops me and does a whole "hey, I saw this, and I thought of you... so here". It was a Spaghetti Carbonara. I'm like... thanks?

@Liggi Which is not in any way to knock NMS. It's an excellent game, but shows just how difficult it is to make something that's "procedurally generated" without a lot of generic...ness. Procedural generation isn't a replacement for crafted worlds.

@Liggi I mean, look at No Man's Sky... a bazillion planets, but each is basically "pick a palette and sprinkle some topography on top". There's no distinguishing features to any region of any planet, apart from Locations™ generated on demand.

This controversy seems really silly to me. You really think they’d simulate an entire planet seamlessly? Months of walking in a straight line? Why? How would that even be good?
Synth Potato🥔@SynthPotato

I really think Bethesda should’ve made it clear before launch that you can’t do one interrupted run around a planet, it’s actually really weird that they’ve never mentioned this until it got leaked, and I’m one of the people that’s excited for Starfield
