A new investigation from ProPublica and FRONTLINE examines federal agents’ response to protesters and bystanders at the Trump administration’s immigration sweeps. “We see, just, use of excessive force after use of excess force,” one expert said. propublica.org/article/caught…

On January 13, Aliya Rahman was on her way to a doctor’s appointment when ICE agents smashed the glass out of her car windows, pulled her out of her car, and hauled her down the street by her arms and legs. Now, Rahman plans to ensure her ordeal comes at a cost to the agency that harmed her. motherjones.com/politics/2026/…

Two guys ran an entire hacking operation in a PRISON for months In 2015, two prisoners in Ohio were assigned to a recycling program where they dismantled old computers Instead of scrapping the parts, they started stealing them Carried components over 1,100 feet past guards, metal detectors, and multiple security checkpoints Then built two working PCs and hid them behind a plywood board in the ceiling of a training room closet They ran cables from the ceiling into the prison's own network Stole login credentials from an employee by watching him type his password Set up Bitcoin wallets, Stripe accounts, bank accounts and credit card applications using another inmate's stolen identity Downloaded VPNs, the Tor browser, password cracking tools and what investigators called "a large hacker's toolkit" Created fake security passes to access restricted areas of the prison This entire operation ran for months They only got caught because one of the computers used so much bandwidth it triggered an automatic alert The Inspector General said it was "almost as if it's an episode of Hogan's Heroes" Two guys with recycled computer parts and a ceiling tile built a cybercrime operation inside a state prison

Destroying the @InternetArchive's @WayBackMachine would be the equivalent of the burning of the Library of Alexandria - one of the worst losses of knowledge in history. Media giants are now threatening to do this. We can't let this happen. Pass it on.

In more than a third of the cases reviewed by ProPublica and FRONTLINE, prosecutors quickly dismissed charges that couldn’t be substantiated, refused to file charges at all, or lost at trial. There will likely be more outcomes like these. propublica.org/article/caught…

Over 200 media outlets are blocking Internet Archive. Media outlets say because AI, or something, but also (and TOTALLY UNRELATED) since they're blocking Internet Archive there is no way to tell if the government or media outlet has deleted or change something. However, they say this is TOTALLY UNRELATED and they block Internet Archive because AI can train off Internet Archive, or something, I don't know, it's all bullshit. wired.com/story/the-inte…

You unlocked your phone for just 12 minutes… and your iPhone quietly documented the entire session in a way most people would never expect. From a forensic analysis, the sequence becomes very clear. At exactly 2:58:30 PM, the device was unlocked. Almost immediately, at 2:58:33 PM, an application took focus and remained active without interruption. That application was Apple Maps, and it stayed in use continuously until 3:10:57 PM, when the device was locked again. No gaps, no switching, no background noise, just one sustained interaction lasting over 12 minutes. What makes this revealing is not just that an app was opened, but that the system captured a precise behavioral pattern. This tells a much deeper story. It suggests the user was actively navigating, searching for a location, or following a route during that exact timeframe. When you align this with other data sources like location history, messages, or call activity, it can place someone in motion, in a specific context, at a specific time. The part most people never consider is that none of this was manually saved. There’s no obvious history screen showing this level of detail, no prompt asking for permission to log it in this way. Yet the device recorded it anyway as part of its normal operation. To the average user, it feels like nothing happened. To a digital forensics investigator, it’s a clean, timestamped narrative of real-world activity. This is where perception and reality separate. People believe their phones only keep what they can see, but in truth, the system is constantly building context in the background. Not to expose you, but to function better. However, in the hands of an investigator, that same hidden context becomes evidence.

The whole EFF leaving X thing has been like an itch I can't scratch. I felt like I was missing something and I finally found it. I made some mistakes when trying to determine why the EFF left X. Most notably the people discussing their departure made an over emphasis on "woke" (?) but failed to provide key context. They were doing selective bias (intentionally, or unintentionally, I'm not sure). The EFF provided a better explanation than what was being shared online. However, their reasoning wasn't being displayed appropriately on X because when they linked their ACTUAL reason for leaving they ALSO linked to their main page. This resulted in X displaying their landing page, not the actual explanation piece. I had to go to their website, visit their blog, and then review their recent posts to find the correct article. In fairness to the EFF, this is a mistake on my end, I should have reviewed the X posts more clearly, but also they should have done a better job linking stuff in their posts. The EFF's actual reasoning as they describe below. This is a much better explanation and this can undoubtedly create more constructive dialogue.

An officer screams, “I will f*cking kill you,” at an unarmed 17-year-old leaving a Minnesota anti-ICE protest after the teen calmly asks why he has to get out of his car. Then the officer falsely claims the teen was “reaching for a gun”. PAXIS.app helps you prepare legally and constitutionally for any encounter with ICE agents or law enforcement. ICE brutally detain elderly protester—ambulance called to scene. Agent drags him across pavement by one leg—another grabs him around his neck with both hands. He was standing in the public area when tackled from behind. Then used high-powered lights to disable cameras filming the excessive force. Incident occurred outside the ICE Processing Center in Portland, Oregon.

Filming ICE in public is protected speech. If someone with a badge loses their temper, your constitutional rights don’t disappear. PAXIS.app explains: When an agent gets inches from your face and screams “18 U.S.C. 111” while threatening cuffs just to make you stop recording — that’s not “law and order.” That’s First Amendment retaliation. FIGHT ICE WITH PAXIS so people know their rights: gofundme.com/f/PAXIS
