Former Walt Disney World VP Dan Cockerell on who killed the Tatooine-Themed Star Wars land:
"We got a call one day. They said, ‘Well, we got some news for you all.’ And the Imagineering guys, they’ve heard this line many, many times during their careers. And I had never been through this.”
"They said, ‘Well, yesterday Bob Iger met with Kathleen Kennedy, who as a lot people may know was sort of George Lucas’ protégé and headed up Lucasfilm. And they had a conversation. They had a meeting. And Kathleen Kennedy, her point of view was, there are way more Disney Star Wars stories ahead of us than behind us. So we really should think about do we want to build a Tatooine, and build what all the fifty-somethings remember Star Wars is or do we want to build something else which is going to appeal to all the upcoming generations who are going to know the new stories.'
And that day Tatooine was killed at the Studios. And all of those concepts were put on a shelf and I’m sure they are sitting in a vault, and I’m sure they’re going be shown someday about what that land looked like and what the attractions were going to be."
How disastrous was this decision?

@missmayn Zuckerberg's META is a hollow shit bubble. It only swallows money, gives nothing back.

This scene alone, when I first saw it on the big screen, I got up the next morning and bought every Spider-Man comic I could get my hands on. You don't see that scale of 'mania' these days. Most franchises lose money due to soulless, corporate shit. Movies for everyone, but actually for no one.

I remember seeing this for the first time and thinking I was about to witness the death of spiderman. Norman beat the hell out of that boy.

They didn’t have to go this hard

@Liuchrias @Pirat_Nation It's no big deal, as long as there is permission to board. I'd be there, trust me.😂

@CinemaTweets1 This is the only actor I like among the new generation of so-called actors. I think he killed in Dune. He's really talented and actually cares. The others are basically Insta personalities. This kid is an actor.
English

@CinemaTweets1 The problem is that the movie industry is fucked. There is more money and opportunity to put your work out there on TV. It's as simple as that.

We really need that “Robert’s Rebellion” spinoff, need to see how good Ned stark was.

Not necessarly. I don't really think he's a danger to people. Do you? It's weird, but out of all freaks of Hollywood, Tom Cruise seems to me just an adrenaline junky hooked on movie making, not a dangerous freak. There are plenty of people who give that vibe, but not him. As I said, it's weird.😂

@TheCinesthetic That laugh is exactly how a serial killer tries to blend in.
English

@TheCinesthetic Tom Cruise is real. He's somehow a genuine freak. He lives on a different adrenaline diet.

@TheCinesthetic They were young enough to rebel against the elites. Now, they're part of their design.

@WorldScholar_ Art Deco doesn't touch your 'soul'. It touches your gut; primal instinct for greatness. In that sense, it inspires a similar effect to cathedrals. Soul, on the other hand, nope.
English

There's just something about Art Deco that touches your soul.

ThinkingWest@thinkingwest
We need an art deco renaissance

@sinbad_schwartz @theawayfans I didn't ask Grok, I didn't ask Google, I just asked people, and the first answer is a fucking clue. Internet; free information is flying all the time, bro. We're all fucked.😂😂

@BruceSelina1940 @JoshP202021 @TheMD2930 Tell the concept of 'better visuals' to a bunch of hardware freaks. These dummies don't know wtf they're talking about. They don't have a visual understanding. All they understand are numbers.
English

@JoshP202021 @slstdv @TheMD2930 I mean he isn’t completely wrong we did have better visuals for some movies in the 90s.
Like Ghost in the Shell.
But we have had amazing viauals in animation past the 90s. Look at the pixar movies like Coco
