I know Im old but I dont give a single fuck. We did it better: music, drugs, food, camping, partying, MMA, pro wrestling, movies, video games - all of it. Take your pick. It was the last gasp of human excellency before the internet & cameras stole our souls. Argue with a wall.

@OhNoItsAlexx Absolutely ridiculous. The Command & Conquer series was a force of nature and belongs in any Top 5, easy. Also, where is TIE Fighter?

"Cloud gaming is the future." 🥸 What a joke. Really, though, gaming in the cloud wasn't the goal – the abstract idea of cloud dependency was the goal. These companies just think they have a better path to cloud dependency now, so no more "wasting money on plebian hobbies".

You’ll still be able to play any games you've already purchased and access your third-party subscription benefits (as long as that subscription remains active) until June 10, 2026. Journalists know better than anyone when a marketing/PR team is working overdrive...and they won't cover it. And as someone who worked in PR for years, I know it, too. This is marketing. Limited availability. Hype. Fear inducement. It's got PR speak all over it. Anthropic's tech is great for what it is, it's a shame they are stooping to such pathetic low levels to make a buck.
Shakeel@ShakeelHashim

The Anthropic Mythos release does not appear near the top of the homepage on any major news site today. The NYT is closest, but it's still pretty far down. The Guardian thinks a Vogue cover with Anna Wintour and Meryl Streep is more important. The Washington Post is prioritizing yet another "we tried to get into Berghain" story. The media is not adequately covering the insane moment we are in.

@IKrietzberg They're not writing about Mythos because journalists know better than anyone when a PR/marketing team is working in overdrive.

The “most journalists ignore AI bc they all think it’s just fancy autocomplete” seems to be a widely held view of many in the industry—somehow weirdly resulting from Bender et al—that does not match with the evidence of the breathless frequency and methodology with which AI is covered by everyone all the time. Find me one publication that’s not writing about AI in some capacity. I don’t know where this idea originated, but I just don’t see it
Rutger Bregman@rcbregman

The evidence screams we're living through a world-historical revolutionary existential moment, and yet most journalists ignore and dismiss it. Most are still in the 'it's just fancy autocomplete' phase - it's so so maddening, people need to f*king KNOW this is happening
