In 1970 the Drs pay review body awarded 30% to junior doctors & consultants to counter inflation. The government gave 30% to juniors but 15% to consultants. The whole pay review body resigned in protest. The report acknowledged affordability but placed fairness first. The 30% ended up being paid. 1/2

This is good news, Mackey claimed it would be doubling this week. Flu is still serious, people still need to get vaccinated, we still need better IP&C but the politicised hyperbole will lead to a crying wolf problem. Always go to a trusted impartial source on this stuff

I don’t think people realise just how big this outcome is.
These percentages are high enough to win a statutory ballot and it was done in just 3 days.
The fallacy that their leaders were detached from their rank and file is dead.
