Until recently, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter were green card holders living lavishly in the United States. Afshar is the niece of deceased Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani. She is also an outspoken supporter of the Iranian regime who celebrated attacks on Americans and referred to our country as the "Great Satan." This week, I terminated both Afshar and her daughter's legal status and they are now in ICE custody, pending removal from the United States. The Trump Administration will not allow our country to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes.

The Israeli government is well able to fund the Iron Dome system, which has proven critical to keep innocent civilians safe from rocket attacks and bombardment.
Consistent with my voting record to date, I will not support Congress sending more taxpayer dollars and military aid to a government that consistently ignores international law and U.S. law.
Netanyahu’s allies in the Knesset just approved a $45 billion defense budget, and the Prime Minister himself also asserted his interest in withdrawing from the MOU with the United States in January. It is fully within their ability to fund Iron Dome and other defensive systems.
Our allies who need our military aid must understand that we will provide it consistent with the Leahy amendment and the foreign assistance act.

This week, I spoke at the conference of CPAC Hungary. In my opening remarks, I thanked Hungary and Prime Minister Orbán for their support of Israel.
The main focus of my remarks was the war with Iran. I explained why Israel is not fighting only for itself, but also for Europe, America, the Middle East, and all of Western civilization. Iran is the main source of chaos, terrorism, and conflict in the Middle East. It refers to America as the “Great Satan” and chants “Death to America.” It attempted to assassinate President Trump. It has been responsible for the deaths of thousands of American soldiers in Lebanon and Iraq. It has been developing ICBMs capable of reaching all of Europe and, eventually, U.S. soil, while also pursuing nuclear weapons to annihilate Israel, dominate the Arab Sunni world, and threaten and extort Europe and America.
It has also oppressed and massacred its own citizens.
I also spoke about how Israel is a defender of Christianity and Christians in the Middle East. It is the only country in the region where the Christian population is growing, while Christians are declining or being driven out in most other parts of the region. The city of Bethlehem was about 80% Christian in the past under Israeli control, but that share has decreased significantly under Palestinian Authority control and persecution to about 10%. Israel is also the only country that has fought for Christians in the Middle East when during the Lebanese Civil War, it fought alongside Christian Lebanese forces against Islamists Palestinian and Shia militias in the 1980s and 1990s.
