NEW: Family demands firing of Mundelein officer who fatally shot woman during mental health crisis Officers responded to a 911 call from family members who said 37-year-old Mary Alice Love was threatening self harm and demanded the police to end her. Officers were led the back door of Love’s mother house where she sat on the back patio with two large knife’s. As Love’s mother refused to move from the scene, Love stood up and moved toward officers inside the home, a sergeant opened fire, fatally striking her. Donnell Smith watched as his long-time girlfriend, Jodi Cowan, was mauled and ripped apart by Linda Cutler’s pit bulls last month. Cowan was taken to the hospital but passed away from the attack, and Cutler was arrested for manslaughter. Cutler, who faked a heart attack when being arrested, will have her 2 pit bulls euthanized. Smith was arrested by the Brevard County Sheriff's Department after reports of a foul stench coming from his trailer led deputies to find his 3 dogs deceased. Smith had left the dogs, which he shared with Cowen, in the trailer for days without food, water, or ventilation. Brevard Sheriff Wayne Ivey said in a press conference, “Look at all the lives that have been lost, all the lives that have been impacted by this. It simply comes down to people not taking care of the pets they’re responsible for.”

In their effort to terrorize me online, Karmelo supporters have now sunk to a new low. They are posting the mugshot of my daughter’s abuser in comment sections. An evil man I helped put behind bars. A man who domestically abused me through our entire marriage that we finally escaped from. I advocated for my daughter when she needed someone to stand up for her. I fought for justice, and eventually helped ensure that her abuser was put behind bars. My adult daughter is on social media. She can see these comments. She can see people posting the face of the man who traumatized her. Think about how sick that is. These individuals claim to care about victims. They claim to care about justice. Yet they are willing to retraumatize a woman and her child simply because they dislike my reporting. That tells you everything you need to know.
