@WallStreetMav @Noahpinion What on earth are you talking about?
English

@Noahpinion Hungary and Poland will likely be the last two European countries with majority ethnic European populations.
I would say it is one of the MOST important countries in Europe. It will be one of the last European countries that is actually still European.
English

@ProLifeBigTex @BlueBla76847058 @waredog777 @jblairsanders Actually I’d agree that there are gradations in the punishments. Sorry, I wrongly assumed you would go harder. My mistake!
English

False
Exodus 21:22-25 addresses unintentional but reckless harm, not premeditated murder. Therefore, the penalties for the death of the mother are the same as if the child died, monetary compensation rather than exile or execution.
Mosaic Law reserved the death penalty exclusively for intentional murder and did not impose it for unintentional acts that resulted in death.
English

@ProLifeBigTex @BlueBla76847058 @waredog777 @jblairsanders According to Exodus, If men are fighting and a woman dies then it would be “Lex Talionis” which is and “eye for an eye” etc. So the punishment for taking a life would be death.
English

@transformageing @BlueBla76847058 @waredog777 @jblairsanders And what is the punishment if the mother died?
English

@ProLifeBigTex @BlueBla76847058 @waredog777 @jblairsanders Well -according to the Bible- it’s a financial penalty. Effectively compensation for property damage.

I phoned Heart FM today, to enter their mystery prize competition. Amanda Holden answered, and said, "Congratulations on being our first caller, all you need to do is answer the following question correctly, to win our Mystery Grand Star Prize". "That Fantastic!" I called out in delight. "Feel Confident?" Amanda asked, “.. it's a Geography Question." "Well, I've got a degree in Geography from Oxford University," I proudly replied, "And I've taught Geography to A level students for the last 20 years, so, yeah.. I’m feeling pretty confident”. "Ok then, to win our grand prize of 2 VIP tickets to an Arsenal game, and to meet the Arsenal players after the game, what is the capital of France?" "Eastbourne", I replied.

@TruthChannel4 @awesome_rants However, EU-India Trade Deal (2026)
The "Mother of all Deals": On January 27, 2026, the EU and India finalized negotiations for a massive Free Trade Agreement (FTA), ending two decades of negotiations.
English

When Trump put a 20% tariff on EU goods, the tax is collected by the US government. Yes, the US citizens pay for this 20% price increase.
But it's the US citizens choice to pay for it or look somewhere else, to US alternatives, for example, and that strengthens the US economy, and if you choose alternatives, the EU exports less, and that is not good for the EU economy.
English

@Brcremer The governments job is the best the sword. No where in scripture is law tasked with charity, mercy, or compassion.
English

@_AlexCFC_ He's going to earn more than that from appearances.

Care does not begin in hospitals. It begins in communities with families, neighbours and a shared responsibility to uphold dignity.
This belief shaped 'Strengthening Community Palliative Care – A Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue', a hybrid convening by @Helpageindia at Tamaraikulam Elders Village, Cuddalore - a senior care home established after the tsunami, rooted in resilience, collective care and ageing with dignity.
In his reflections, Dr. M.R. Rajagopal, widely regarded as the father of palliative care in India, reminded us that when care is removed from community and context, it risks becoming clinical but incomplete.
If care addresses pain but ignores hunger, loneliness, unsafe shelter or loss of dignity, he noted, then we are not truly caring.
He also challenged the misconception that palliative care is expensive or unscalable. Drawing on The Lancet Commission, Dr. Rajagopal pointed out that in low- and middle-income countries, an essential package of palliative care costs just 0.6% of Universal Health Coverage expenditure.
Strengthening community palliative care, he argued, is therefore not a question of affordability but of values, policy intent and implementation.

For people working at a locality level, understanding local data on ageing can help to build a picture of how well people are ageing in your area, and identify priority areas for improvement.
Our new report, 'Create Your Own Themed Report: Understanding Ageing in Your Area' with LG Inform has identified trusted statistics available at the English local authority level which align with the eight domains of age-friendly communities.
The report provides a comprehensive overview of the diverse factors that contribute to how a place influences its residents experience of ageing – from housing tenure to welfare, employment, loneliness and health markers. It aims to save localities time and provide a national benchmark – and will be continually updated for local areas to track changes over time.

Culture is important because it determines how your work is delivered — it directly affects business success as well as employee engagement.
We recently ran our 'What is an 'Age-friendly Culture' and how do we know if we have one?' webinar, where we discussed how ageism might show up in the workplace, and what employers can do to help combat it.

@AWOCEastKent Not online yet. It’s part of our process as an age friendly county. I’ve got agreement to consult on what it will look like. Next year will produce a formal strategy. Advice always welcome!

Is the strategy online @transformageing ? Could find only something from 2023

Ageing Without Children (AWOC) is now in Dorset Council’s delivery strategy. Around 1 in 5 of adults in Dorset are AWOC - over 23,000 people. Older adults without family advocacy are more likely to rely on paid care, face longer hospital stays and earlier care Home entry. #AWOC

Delighted that supporting those Ageing Without Children has now been included in Dorset Council’s planning. I think we might be the first county to do this - in the world!

Older people are nearly invisible in humanitarian response: just 0.1% of project titles and 6.5% of descriptions mention them.
Our new study shows why closing this gap is vital for stronger, inclusive crisis planning in an ageing world.

Webinar alert: What now for inclusion?
Years of underfunding, sharp cuts & shifting donor priorities are putting inclusion & protection at risk, leaving marginalised groups sidelined.
